Information is nice...it isn't gonna stop the texting, though, because the people who are texting, are not reading that text. And, even if they agree that it's bad, they are really thinking, it's bad for everyone, but themselves. Can't happen to me syndrome.
The only effective way of reducing this, is to make the cell providers and phone manufacturers put in auto-block of these devices, whenever they are moving at a certain rate of speed, like 10mph. If it doesn't work, no one will be using it. Problem solved...well, until someone figures out how to hack it, but at least the numbers of accidents would be greatly reduced.

I'm a Valley Metro bus driver who drives 800-900 miles per week mostly in Mesa.
I can also say that the single most dangerous. distraction on our streets.today is texting and using a cell phone while driving, and it isn't. just teenagers but. their adult peers also.
Last spring a woman. ran into the. rear end of. my bus while texting, she was in her 50's, luckily she wasn't injured but her car was totaled.
Our company policy is pretty clear if any of our drivers is caught using a cell phone while driving we will be terminated, period, union or no union.
Cell phone companies and auto manufacturers could fix this silent killer by easily adding blocking devices on their phones and in their cars, but we know that that will not happen until many more people are killed and injured, because their is just too much money be made.
I wish that laws would help but there just aren't enough police to enforce this epidemic of ignorance.
