There is much ado about the U.S. Senate, and its questioning of Abassador Rice about her early statements regarding the murder of US Ambassador Stevens.

I don’t understand how anybody can still accept the limp-wristed concoction from the federal administration. I was embarrassed to hear such a weak story presented by white house flunkies.

Come on! With all the resources of the executive branch and the news media outlets than fawn on you, you couldn’t come up with a better excuse than an unknown video on the internet?

I could do better without knowing any background!

Let’s start with:

1. A spontaneous demonstration/celebration of the attacks on the twin-towers.

2. A planned protest against U.S. intervention (or non-intervention) in Libyan national affairs.

3. A reaction to some affront to their religion/government/culture by an American tourist or news reporter (those are never in short supply).

4. A protest against the decadence of western (American) television/motion picture/multi-culturalism.

The list could be endless! But an unknown, unseen video on the internet?

The biggest doubt I have is a result of wondering how many of those "local citizens" have internet access, or understand English? Put your thinking cap on to consider the ramifications of that!

Patrick, for the 1,000 time, The republicans cut 1/2 billion from the Embasy defense fund in 2011 and 2012. Abassador Rice received the same information from CIA Director David Petraeus and Director of National Security James Clapper as the U.S. Senate received. And the only reason the republicans don't want Rice for Secetary of State and want John Kerry is because they want Kerry's Senate seat for Scott Brown a republican, politics as usual for the 1,000 time.

And for the 1,000 time, the White House misled the public on what led to the violence in Benghazi, Libya which killed the US ambassador and three other Americans . . . blaming the attack on an anti-Islamic video rather than terrorism.

The Obama administration has since gone quiet, preferring to wait for the findings of a governmental review board that’s investigating the incident.

Truth I think it's time to find a different dead horse to beat. The question is, did Susan Rice, and the Obama administration deliberately deceive the American public? Also did the President's lack of action cost American lives? The Democrats were screaming for Nixon's impeachment on Watergate, YET NO ONE DIED. It's not Bush's or the Republican's fault on this one. It's time for this administration to learn a little RESPONSIBILITY !

...did Susan Rice, and the Obama administration deliberately deceive the American public? Every time their mouths move. ...did the President's lack of action cost American lives? As it does almost daily worldwide? When you elect incompetents, and let them appoint incompetents, it is a bit naive to expect competence isn't it?

    Rich,

You observe that "When you elect incompetents, and let them appoint incompetents, it is a bit naive to expect competence isn't it?" Judging from the 2000 election of Bush 43, I'd say your point was well taken!

Perhaps the better point would be to focus on what level of competence is required to undo Bush 43. Do any Republicans stand up today for 43 or Chaney? No! And that speaks volumns to your point.

Really like that "1,000th time" line. Bottom line on Benghazi? It's getting close to 3-months now and the major questions still go unanswered by the Obama administration:
    > Why was the consulate not defended?
    > Why were our military folks told to "stand down" who could have responded?
    > Why were the American people and the UN fed a line of 'hooey', by the President and his appointees (all), about some sloppy video vs the obvious? RPGs, this isn't rocket science to figure out it's not "spontaneous" demonstration.

    It's time to demand answers!

I really doubt we'll see any answers, until the drone hits those responsible...or, a reasonable facsimile presents itself.

In the meantime, there is political hay to be made, and speculation abounds...

Reality Fudging and onerebel………. Good questions on Benghazi – and why we still need answers from the White House. “Fog of war” seems to be the phrase now used to protect administration liars.

It is encouraging though, that Congress is finally serious about examining the events surrounding that day in Benghazi, Libya, that killed the US ambassador and three other Americans.

The problem Dale is that people like you stick their heads in the sand, and point at Bush. Bush is over, done, and what replaced him is just as incompetent as he was. Benghazi was as much a result of the bumbling fools Obama has placed at the head of our foreign policy as it was all the terrorists in the world. And pointing back at Bush isn't doing thing one to solve the current problem. Georgey was incompetent too, nah, nah, nah is a response that belongs in first grade recess not an adult discussion.

Some of them, she is after all in a position currently where her incompetence, and mismanagement still affects and hurts the state, especially as it sits on the border. However the constant incompetence and total mismanagement of the current crop of lame-os is the biggest culprit currently. Our system wasn't built to have the sort of power and money it has evolved into. We can't get qualified people to run it through negative TV ads, and are stuck with people who can't handle the job on all levels, of both parties.

Rich, you are "spot on" about Dale. He likes to blow smoke, and try misdirection. And, when proven wrong, he won't respond about that issue anymore. He's built himself as some sort of Mental Giants as compared to everyone else here. Personally, I think he's just mental.

Dale, I defy you to answer Rich. Do you, or do you not think the CURRENT ADMINISTRATION dropped the ball on this? Is it possible for you to answer a direct question?

    I'm offering odds, people.....

truth: OK, so the funding was cut. From what I heard, the administration had FAIR WARNING that something was going to happen. Why didn't Obama use an Executive Order to fix it?

It's all about race and gender (well that's what the Black Congressional Caucus are screaming). If Susan Rice would have been born with blond hair and blue eyes and a man...then the Obama Administration could have lied their way through all of this and everything could have been......."swept under the carpet".

If a Black American Ambassador or a Female Ambassador would have been killed and a blond, blue-eyed, "MALE", UN Ambassador would have gone on 5 (five) Nationally Televised Sunday Morning Talk Shows and lied through his teeth, like Susan Rice did. This blond, blue-eyed, "MALE", UN Ambassador would have been dragged through fire by Nancy Pelosi and the Black Congressional Caucus and every female, Democrat, Congresswoman and female, Democrat, US Senator.

But since the "LIE-EE".....is Black and a woman to boot.....PRESIDENT OBAMA HAS EVERY CONFIDENCE IN HER............[sad]

The East Valley Tribune must be in love with this letter. It has remained at the top of the stack for too long.

I think I can answer Reality's question pretty easily:

    > Why was the consulate not defended?
The Republican House cut funding for Foreign Service security. This resulted in less security especially at remote, secondary locations.

    > Why were our military folks told to "stand down" who could have responded?
    They weren't.

    > Why were the American people and the UN fed a line of 'hooey', by the President and his appointees (all), about some sloppy video vs the obvious?
They weren't. Notice within hours Obama called it a "terrorist attack.." But rather than go off half-cocked, he waited before getting too specific because sources might be at risk., and facts change as new data comes in.

The intelligence community has, after all, had a large number of very spectacular failures. the Philippines, Iran in 1979, and who can forget Iraq that cost us more than 4,000 dead Americans, tens of thousands injured, a very huge treasure, all the result of utter distrust on the part of the whole world, including most of our citizens.
