Photo enforcement safety cameras do nothing but make our roads safer for people inside and outside of the vehicle. This technology is a safety tool and an asset to any community.
Every year, speeding-related crashes are the cause of 13,000 deaths in the United States. Similarly, red light running leads to 165,000 injuries and over 700 fatalities every year. In 2002, we learned first-hand the devastating effects of neglecting traffic safety laws when a man neglected a red light and killed our daughter, Sarah. Our loss has reminded us that no one is immune from the consequences of one careless driving decision.
Safety cameras make people think twice before they drive in an irresponsible and dangerous manner and that's a great thing. We have joined forces with law enforcement and safety advocates across the country to support safety initiatives that will make our roads safer. We cannot wait for more fatal crashes to pile up before we start to crack down on people who put others in danger. These cameras increase safety and we welcome them in our community and everywhere else that they would make a difference.

When, as a society, we allow overt fraud and criminality in our government we are asking for a collapse. Photo radar is a fraudulent, criminal act that weakens our entire legal system and threatens our stability and our ability to enforce other laws. A photo radar ticket proves nothing, an eight year old child can take a car doing the speed limit and change it into a law breaker in photoshop, and with a private company profiting by the activity it is almost a certainty that many tickets issued are issued fraudulently for a private company's profit. Dangerous tricks, such as speed traps and shortened lights are used, the bad things this fraudulent and criminal activity do far outweigh any good. It is a criminal act, an act of fraud and theft, it also opens the door wide to corruption, it is a computer, it can be set (and no doubt in many cases is) to snap only out of state plates or a large percentage of them, To present a court with fraudulent 'evidence' for profit and undermine our entire justice system.

Paul and Sue,
Sorry to learn of your personal tragedy. Please excuse Rich. He too has lost a daughter. But his search for closure is still ongoing. Your campaign appears to be your closure.
On the issue of red light cameras, understand that where there is no uniformity from city to city on the duration of the amber light, those who are used to a longer light feel like the cameras in towns set with short ambers are being used to vitcimize them. And there is no standard for the duration of the "all red" period.
Let's refocus your red-light campaign on establishing nationwide standards for the duration of both amber lights and the all red period. Then the cameras can do some real good.
