Frequent headlines: “Officer shot... Deputy recovering from gun shot... Bicyclist shoots officer in the face.” I ask the governor, the powers that be and Legislature to have a heart for the officers and their families. Arizona leads in lax gun regulation. (Former state Sen.) Russell Pierce led the foolish effort for the good, bad and feeble to carry concealed weapons without instructions or permits.
Please governor and Legislature, reinstate safe, common sense gun legislation. Why encourage the bad and unqualified to carry a dangerous weapon?
On a similar note, the two officer patrol is rare in metropolitan Phoenix, but universal in other large communities.
It seems the powers that be have adopted the auto manufacturers’ accounting practices.
Consider the one-officer savings in all cities, compared to the cost of an occasional disability or loss of an officer. Urban sprawl spreads first responders thin and creates blight.
Those who profit from that form of growth should bear the increased costs. Two officers will help assure their safety and that of the public.

Richard: don't concern yourself pertaining to the cost of one or two officers in a police car. If the police should come across a nut-case who has fried his or her brains on drugs, and during their arrest they have a stroke or a heart attack, some scum sucking lawyer will convince a jury that this person who fried their brain and died fighting with these police officers, that their family deserves 3 to 9 million dollars and this scum sucking layer deserves their fees of 30%-50%. Now if this wacko kills one or both police officers, No matter if he or she works for the city, state, or county their family will receive one year of their spouse's health insurance at employes cost and one or more car washes to raise money for the police officers family.

Talk about a "streatch". How about euthanizing all Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Dobermans and German Shepherds because drug dealers and gang members have them around in case Cops come to arrest them and sometimes Cops get bitten ???
Or closing down all the Donut Shops and Franchises in Arizona because Cops eat them and get fat and possibly health problems down the road.
Or banning all "Ginzu" kitchen knives because criminals and domestic violence perps use them to wound Cops.......and on...and on....and on...[wink]

Why are the Liberals, Socialists, Marxists, Anarchists, Commie Wanna-Be's and all the other assorted Democrat Party members all of a sudden worried about the safety of Law Enforcement.
These are the same ones or their children who throw rocks, bricks, bags of human and pet excrement, urine and Molotov Cocktails at the Cops in the 1960's, the 1970's, and the 1980's and up till today (remember Obama's "Occupy Wall Street Riots").
Now they are jumping on the assault rifle bandwagon.....don't they realize that every cop, deputy or agent has an assault rifle at home with dozens of 30-round banana clips".......[wink]

I'm curious as to exactly what sorts of laws the writer believes would prevent criminals from carrying guns. Do you honestly believe that a person who is willing to shoot a police officer is going to say "Oh, my! They've made it illegal to carry a gun! Now I guess I'll have to give up my life of crime and find an honest job!"

Leon, I hope you are not a gun owner, if the right mental health person should read you post you could lose your right to own a gun.

truth, I'm sure you really know that no "mental health person" would ever diagnose anybody based on an online comment. Beyond that, having ideas that seem crazy to you is not at all the same thing as being a dangerous lunatic. There are a lot of "crazy" people who aren't dangers to themselves or others.
Leon might very well be one of them.

LOL....Folks, I must have hit "pay dirt" when I called out these Anti-Police types.
Now if we could only figure out what Left-Wing "Loonie Group" they belong to....heck, maybe all of them.....now wouldn't that be a hoot......[wink]

It's obvious you haven't bought a gun recently. There are questions on a legal form that "weed out" those not lawfully or mentally capable of possessing a weapon. This form is a MUST before anyone can purchase a gun through a licensed gun dealer. A call is even made to a FEDERAL database to insure accuracy and reliability of the information provided. The loophole all of you anti-gun fanatics forget to grasp is that there will always be those that will never abide by the law or rules of common sense. Any and all further regulations does nothing more but tie the hands of law-abiding citizens.

The liberals answer would be to offer cake, ice cream, and a free therapy session to the knife-wielding, gun-brandishing criminal.

Think any of the fools who shot at police was their first situation with the police? Part of the problem is that the judicial system does not identify lifetime losers very well and lets them back to the street to become bigtime losers who shoot cops.
