In the interest of maintaining an accurate public record, we are writing to note that an opinion column published Oct. 13 in the East Valley Tribune, “Dirty Tricks in a Recall Election,”

made a reference to a false allegation that erroneously linked the Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) to  Arizona’s immigration enforcement law.

It is CCA's policy and practice not to engage in legislation involving detainment, crime or sentencing policies. CCA has never lobbied or had any role in the passage of Arizona’s immigration laws, and the original source of this falsehood has been discredited.  Any statement to the contrary is not true.

Senior Director, Public Affairs
