According to the prophet Hosea, God says, “I will make a covenant on behalf of Israel with the wild beasts, the birds of the air, and the things that creep on the earth, and I will break every bow and sword and weapon of war and sweep them off the earth so that all living creatures may lie down without living in fear.”

People use the Bible as an excuse to slaughter and eat the flesh of animals. Hunters bait, track, and kill wildlife as if they are doing the abundance of a species a favor. Animals manage very well without the interference of superior intelligence.

Game “management” programs are actually game “propagation” programs designed not to reduce or restrict the animals’ numbers but to fool desirable species into overpopulating by shooting only males and protecting females so they continue to propagate. If disaster strikes, a doe will actually absorb her fetus. Game management operates so much to the detriment of animals. In hunting magazines, hunters describe the most benign animals as wild, terrifying, threatening, and oversized, rather than as timid beings that flee for their lives at the first hint of a human carrying heavy artillery — just another heinous atrocity.

What about when animals eat other animals? Should we ask them to stop?

I guess fruits and nuts fit right in with the vegetarian menu.[beam]

Why were my comments deleted? They contained no vulgarity, no insults.
Just honest, rational questions to the author.

If your religion cannot handle honest inquiry (you know, like Islam can't), you have a very weak faith.

People don't need to use the Bible, for much of anything, but least of all, hunting or eating meat. That's just a silly assumption, almost as silly as using the Bible to support a vegetarian, or is it vegan, stand.

Human beings are omnivores, and, as loathe as I am to agree with Leon, even a little bit, I have to say he's right about looking in a mirror at one's teeth, in order to see where we are, in the food chain...

Now, Kimberly, I get that you love animals, but your passion for them is overriding your ability to understand that, yes, our existence has an impact on the ecosystem. We raise animals, as food, and we also put them in zoos. But, we also protect them, within sanctuaries. Your PETA-like militant stance is only feeding the more aggressive alpha males the incentive to go out and kill, for sport, at this point in time.

Your quote of the Biblical Idyllic, "lamb laying down with the lion" -type scenario is nothing more than a cultural myth, and a metaphor for spiritual peace. It's not based on reality...

The best you could ever hope for, would be for the hunters among us to at least thank their prey, for their sustenance.

Try eating the Bible. While your at it throw in the Koran and Book of Mormon.
What do you think they ate in the old days?

    GENESIS 1:26

"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth".

Man has "dominion" over game birds, Man had "dominion" over wildfowl, Man has "dominion" over small game and man has "dominion" over large game animals too.

Vegans should just go to their bathroom mirror and open their mouths real big and look inside. Canine teeth to tear "meat", incisors to cut "meat" and molars with sharp edges to masticate "meat"......MEAT not VEGETABLES not TOFU not GRAINS.

Man needs vitamin B-12 for good health. Man gets vitamin B-12 from eating ....yup, you guessed it.....MEAT.

MAN HAS ALWAYS HUNTED....MAN WILL ALWAYS HUNT....ALL CARNIVORIES HUNT......MAN IS A CARNIVORA.

I believe Ms. Miller is a misinformed flake. She should actually read the fish and game regulations before shooting off her mouth. Baiting is prohibited except in the case of some predators. While deer hunting for the most part is restricted to bucks, many cow elk permits are issued each year. My son and I have both harvested cow elk and the meat tastes just fine. In fact , we will be hunting cow elk in December.

Now, if Ms. Miller wants to be a veggie, that is her right. By the way, what is her position on beef, pork, chickens and fish? :-)

If you want to see the truth about all religions, read the BOOK OF THE DEAD, WEIGHING OF THE HEART.[beam][beam]

"I will break every bow and sword and weapon of war and sweep them off the earth..."

He didn't though. Perhaps because you purposefully edited the passage to exclude the disclaimer of "on that day"? (restoration of Israel is "that day" if I'm not mistaken)

And "game management" tries to normalize animal populations, rather than allow the cycle of predator/prey to oscillate, sometimes drastically.
