Why in the world is the Tempe City Council NOT taking action to rename the City Park which they just named after Ben Arredondo? Do the right thing Tempe Mayor and Council, remove the self admitted FELONS name off of the Tempe Park. Tempe residents deserve much better!

I agree. Arrendondo makes Tempe look as bad and graft-ridden as big cites, like Chicago. Why is he not being asked to make full restitution and serve some prison time to boot?

Let's hope that all those Arredondo extended family members can still live up to the true performance standards of the positions they've "gained" over the years. People will no longer give them a pass. Thanks for going easy on him Bill. You didn't mention the scholarship fund scandal or Ben Arredondo paying for his lawyer with his re-election fund.

I am truly impressed. The Guest Comentator gave a very well-written, well reserched Column. He gave us names and dates and facts. This newspaper should hire him to replace Howie Fischer....lol. Great Column.

Lord Acton strikes again. Remember that power corrupts. Never let anyone hold it too long. Our system is set up to see that you can stop this sort of corruption. Never, ever, 're-elect' . And term limits? No one is more corrupt than a lame duck who has a limited time to feather his nest.

Maybe its time for a voter proposition raising the penalty for elected officials
taking bribes to something that would outweigh the greed. How about twenty to life?

Maybe another option would be huge fines per instance with a percentage paid to the whistle blower. Basically, putting a bounty on them.

How about yearly polygraphs they have to take and pass? Though, on second thought, most of the politicians don't know the difference between truth and lies anymore.
