This is a cautionary tale about three of President Obama's family members - the president, his uncle Omar Onyango and his Aunt Zeituni Onyango. To follow the story completely, readers should be current on President Obama's administrative amnesty which he sprung on an unsuspecting and incredulous public just before he departed for Martha's Vineyard.

Obama and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano define his new policy, now in effect, as an ICE evaluation of 300,000 cases involving aliens in deportation proceedings to determine whether they are hardened criminals and therefore a risk to public safety or "low priority" offenders. The latter are released.

At a speech she delivered at the William Jefferson Clinton Foundation and the University of Arkansas' Clinton School of Public Service, Napolitano brazenly summarized the revised immigration guidelines as "common sense" and ones wherein "nobody is getting a free pass."

Actually, the policy is idiotic, hurtful and defies Obama's sworn Constitutional obligation to uphold the nation's laws.

Furthermore, for Obama to release illegal aliens just weeks before 9/11's tenth anniversary is a callous display of indifference to the victims' families. According to the Center for Immigration Studies, 12 of 48 terrorists involved in the plotting and carrying out of the murderous attacks were illegal aliens. Because of the discreet profile they maintained during the days leading up to 9/11, using the current Obama-Napolitano standards they would have been described as "low priority".

Ditto for Auntie Zeituni. While Zeituni didn't pose a criminal threat, she fraudulently tapped into a social services pool that drained scarce public resources.

First ordered deported in 2004 after overstaying a visa issued in 2000, Zeituni lived in public housing, supposedly available only to citizens, and collected $700 in monthly disability checks. But an unidentified benefactor interceded and hired famous immigration lawyer Margaret Wong to represent Zeituni in her efforts to remain. The unsurprising result - a Boston federal judge stayed Zeituni's deportation order. In 2010, Zeituni was granted political asylum and is now a legal U.S. resident.

Only the most optimistic expect a different result from Uncle Omar's case. Like his sister, Omar ignored a previously issued federal deportation order and has been living in the country illegally for several years. Wong will represent Omar.

But getting Omar off may be tough. On Aug. 24 Omar, who had an outstanding warrant, was arrested for driving his SUV through a stop sign and barely missing a police cruiser. Omar's sobriety test indicated a 0.14 level, nearly twice the maximum. The police charged Omar with driving under the influence, driving to endanger and failing to use his turn signal. Because of his immigration violations, ICE detained Omar.

Under the new immigration rules, into what category will Omar fall: hardened or low priority? Don't forget that the ICE language includes allowances for protecting aliens "with family ties".

Most would argue that Omar, an illegal immigrant, should be deported immediately. While he's not a convicted axe murderer, Omar is a hazard behind the wheel that may kill someone with his car.

Obama, with his eyes on the polls, can be sure the nation will be watching his uncle's case. If Omar is still hanging around in November 2012, there's a good chance Obama may be gone by January 2013.

davidlucifer, I just love your name, but you just talk a mean game and never ever say anything concrete. Platitudes would be a better name for you.

You say things like, "Let's find equitable, sustainable, and affordable solutions which address the problems and not the ideological idiocy that seems to persist." but all the solutions I've ever heard you talk about are silly. You speak in generalities when you say things like putting more money into education and less into prisons, but you don't say what the money will buy that the kids don't already have or what we will do with all the criminals our society is creating. TELL US SOME OF YOUR SOLUTIONS THAT ARE EQUITABLE, SUSTAINABLE AND AFFORDABLE. Your solution to the illegal alien problem is to make them all citizens, but you ignore the ramifications of an open border policy on our economy. You want an equitable, sustainable and affordable solution, but all I hear from you is the opposite. The same ideological idiocy that you accuse others of, but then you pro open border advocates are all the same, no solutions, just keep the problems pouring into the country till it's overrun with problems and can no longer be fixed. We want to fix it while it's still fixable. Thank God for the strength of the Tea Party. May their will consume congress and the white house come 2012. God save America!

US falls to 5th in global competitiveness. We need the Tea Party today more than ever before. If we allow things to continue down this path for too much longer America the great will be lost.

The U.S. has tumbled further down a global ranking of the world's most competitive economies, landing at fifth place because of its huge deficits and declining public faith in government, a global economic group said Wednesday.

The announcement by the World Economic Forum was the latest bad news for the Obama administration, which has been struggling to boost the sinking U.S. economy and lower an unemployment rate of more than 9 percent.

Switzerland held onto the top spot for the third consecutive year in the annual ranking by the Geneva-based forum, which is best known for its exclusive meeting of luminaries in Davos, Switzerland, each January.

Singapore moved up to second place, bumping Sweden down to third. Finland moved up to fourth place, from seventh last year. The U.S. was in fourth place last year, after falling from No. 1 in 2008.

The rankings, which the forum has issued for more than three decades, are based on economic data and a survey of 15,000 business executives.

The forum praised the U.S. for its productivity, highly sophisticated and innovative companies, excellent universities and flexible labor market. But it also cited "a number of escalating weaknesses" such as rising government debt and declining public faith in political leaders and corporate ethics.

The results of a survey of 142 nations comes a day before Obama is preparing to tackle jobs issues in a speech to the U.S. Congress, and just as U.S. polls show a clear majority of those surveyed say they disapprove of the way Obama is handling the economy.

Switzerland held onto its top ranking, the forum said, because of "continuing strong performance across the board" with innovation, technological readiness, even-handed regulation and having one of the world's most stable economic environments.

Germany, Europe's economic powerhouse, was sixth, followed by the Netherlands and Denmark. Japan came in ninth, and Britain was 10th. France was 18th, and Greece, saddled with debt, fell to 90th.

The report looked at broader trends: While the U.S. slipped, emerging markets gained traction. China took 26th place, highest among major emerging economies; Brazil was 53rd; India was 56th; and Russia was 66th.

"Fiscal imbalances that have been building up around the world are really a danger to future competitiveness, in terms of the ability of countries to invest in those things that will be very important for competitiveness going forward, things like education, infrastructure and so on," said Jennifer Blanke, an economist with the forum.

CSalafia, if White male property owners are the only people paying taxes in this country then maybe they should be the only ones having the vote. Of course we know there are more White people sucking this country dry than any one other race. You would love to make this about race wouldn't you. Throwing the race card at the Tea Party is so much easier than disputing the issues. Teamster racketeer Hoffa says we are at war with the workers of America. What a joke. We celebrate the American worker who is the backbone of this great country. What we don't want is anymore of his type of freeloading gangster jobs where people get paid for doing nothing of any importance what so ever. Our government is full to the brim with these types of jobs and you know it. I heard Black women are some of the people hurt most by the downsizing of government jobs. Could that be why the Congresswoman Waters and the Black Caucus calls us racists. Sorry about that girls. Maybe go find a real job.

wdgnas, I would suggest that allowing welfare parasites to vote on whether or not we should expand the welfare state seems a we bit ludicrous at best. It's tantamount to representation without taxation. Exactly the opposite of what the original Tea Party was about. Either you contribute to our country in some way other than sucking it dry like a tick, or you don't get a voice in how it is run. The welfare staters are screaming at this idea I'm sure, but it is the fair and right choice, and only a parasite could disagree. I have nothing against charity and wouldn't want anyone to starve, but why is it that we are fast becoming ruled by those who refuse to pay their way? Basic healthcare and schooling, housing, nutritious food, proper clothing all should get, but then they whine cause they don't get more for free, AND we should let them vote? This country will be a tird world country soon if people like davidlucifer gets their way. It's almost as if that is what they yearn for. davidlucifer, you talk about ideological idiocy, but you are so full of it your boots are sloshing.

This is just another tired old right wing, anti immigration, "we want our country back", xenophobic, piece of Tea Party tripe with no social or political redeeming qualities.

Let's find equitable, sustainable, and affordable solutions which address the problems and not the ideological idiocy that seems to persist.

No, Tea Party Patriot, the data is not true.

President-elect Barack Obama actually carried 28 states (and the District of Columbia), not 20 as claimed in the message. Sen. John McCain carried only 22 states. The total area of states won by Obama is actually 1,483,702 square miles, significantly more than the 580,000 stated by the e-mail. McCain’s states have an area of 2,310,315 square miles, not the 2,427,000 claimed. The population of counties carried by Obama is just under 183 million, not the 127 million claimed. McCain carried counties with a total population of just under 119 million, far fewer than claimed in this message. The murder rate for counties carried by Obama was 6.56 per 100,000 inhabitants, less than half the rate claimed in the message. The rate for counties carried by McCain was 3.60 per 100,000, much higher than claimed in the message.

Are you suggesting TPP, as Matthew Vadum did, that you long for the days when only white male property owners voted?

Slabside that is very interesting information you provided. CSalafia points out that this report is largely a bogus report, and the professor didn't write it, but much of the data is true none the less. Most of what votes democrat I wouldn't even allow the vote based on their financial interests in this country. Shouldn't you at least have to contribute something to this country as opposed to being a parasite on society to have a vote in it's future? This and many other indicators point towards our great country circle the toilet, and as much as I hate to admit it, the world is evolving into a cesspool and people like this president and his voters are it's future. I'm glad I wont live long enough to see its finally flush into the sewer.

@NBT - I'm flattered you think I have that much sway over the editors of the Tribune, but really, I don't.

@Slabside - The "Professor Olson" post is nothing but urban legend. It was originally done after the Bush/Gore election and is an overall falsehood. Thanks for keeping us up to date on the latest spam emails.

Hows this for spin by the staff of Senator Harry Reid, Democrat, Nevada…

Judy Wallman, a professional genealogy researcher discovered that Congressman Harry Reid's great-great uncle, Remus Reid, was hanged for horse stealing and train robbery in Montana in 1889. Both Judy and Harry Reid share this common ancestor. On the back of a picture of the gallows was written “Remus Reid, horse thief, sent to Montana Territorial Prison 1885, escaped 1887, robbed the Montana Flyer six times. Caught by Pinkerton detectives, convicted and hanged in 1889.'

In response to an inquiry Harry Reid's staff provided the following:

"Remus Reid was a famous cowboy in the Montana Territory. His business empire grew to include acquisition of valuable equestrian assets and intimate dealings with the Montana railroad. Beginning in 1883, he devoted several years of his life to government service, finally taking leave to resume his dealings with the railroad. In 1887, he was a key player in a vital investigation run by the renowned Pinkerton Detective Agency. In 1889, Remus passed away during an important civic function held in his honor when the platform upon which he was standing collapsed."

    Ya gotta luv it!

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law in St Paul , Minnesota , points out some interesting facts concerning the last Presidential election:

Number of States won by: Obama: 19 McCain: 29
Square miles of land won by: Obama: 580,000 McCain: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by: Obama: 127 million McCain: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Obama: 13.2
    McCain: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory McCain won was
mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.

Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low income
tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the
"complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy,
with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached
    the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal
invaders called illegal's - and they vote - then we can say goodbye to the
USA in fewer than five years.

This is truly scary! Of course we are not a democracy, we are a Constitutional Republic .
Someone should point this out to Obama. Of course we know he and too many others pay little attention to The Constitution. There couldn't be more at stake than on Nov 2012.

hoopydreams, if you had any idea what the real process was for choosing a president it would probably make you never vote again. Yes, the puppets are well vetted by the puppeteer before you ever get a chance to see them. Whitewashed and all shined up new paint, documents made up and histories created. Fools assume that someone with their interests at heart have really checked this guy out when in fact most people judge candidates based fully on what CNN or FOX tells them. Americans in general are fools that deserve to be little else than slaves to the machine..

Well Mr. Writer. Your name doesn't seem to a Native American name, you also don't look "Native" to me either. Which means that your family most likely immigrated over the puddle from (I'm assuming) Italy. Not too long ago I hear about how Italians came here from Italy, and were stealing jobs from hardworking English and Scottish whites. And *shockingly* some of these immigrants that came over took the names of dead relatives in order to sail across the ocean, to make a better life for themselves and families. This happened more than we want to admit and may have been in your family too. So before you start bringing this up again about the president look within your own family.

As for people who agree with this guy, don't you think that before Obama ever thought of going into the Democratic primaries that his entire personal history was researched? Do you really think any Tom, or Harry can just one day decide "I'm running' for president!" and they're president? The process is much more complicated than that people.

Dale says, "All of our country's problems are caused by illegal aliens, some from Kenya, some from Mexico, some from Mars!" Facetiousness at it's best

How bout this for a problem:

On Thursday, the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration released a report revealing that the Internal Revenue Service doled out $4.2 billion in refundable tax credits to illegal alien in 2010.

The refunds were given in the form of the so-called ‘earned income child tax credits,’ which are designed to alleviate the tax burden on low income wage earners with children.

Ok, 4.2 billion wont solve the national debt, but come on Dale, no problem?

No attempt needs to be made as this charlatan of a POTUS brings shame and condemnation on the office.

I am so incensed at the mainstream media. If this had been a republican president the MSM would have vetted him/her more and would have found out about the illegal relatives. But the liberal MSM has rolled over on Obama and given him a pass on everything from his birth certificate, his school records, his travels to foreign countries and his association with crooks and terrorists. It just shows how disingenuous, unprofessional and corrupt the liberal MSM has become.

No Dale. All of our problems are not caused by illegal aliens. However, it is disingenuous to infer they cause none. The point the author makes is the point that (ahem) "conservatives" like you don't want to accept, Obama is a Chicago politician who plays by his own rules. One set for him and his friends and family and one set for everyone else. Based on the polls, many people understand this and won't buy next time when he is selling.
