Enough is enough. Can we stop with the silly antics and economic boycotts that those of you on the left are proposing over the so-called “controversial” Arizona immigration law? These tirades just make you look unintelligent as your fellow Americans discern that you are more concerned for those who are here illegally than you are for your fellow citizens.
First, understand that Arizona has a serious problem. Illegal immigrants are coming to the United States in droves across the Arizona/Mexico border. They have become more than a financial burden for our state, costing Arizonans over a billion dollars annually to pay for their health care, education and incarceration.
Has anyone from the bill’s opposition camp expressed outrage over the human suffering that the unsecured border has caused for victims’ families who have lost loved ones via this illegal activity? What about the fact that Arizona is the kidnapping capital of the United Sates? What about those victims? Where is the outcry? Unfortunately, it’s politics as usual.
The most insulting part of the attacks and calls for boycotts is the fact that many of those who are making them either have not read the bill or are simply ignorant. The list of opponents of the bill continues to amaze me. Do Hall & Oats and Shakira really think we care about what they have to say?
What happens when a politician attacks Arizona and SB 1070, but has no idea where Arizona is located on a map? Ask Peggy West, who we like to refer to as “Milwaukee’s Best.”
West, a member of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors and a member of the Executive Committee of the Milwaukee Democratic Party, apparently never had to pass a geography test in grade school. She seems to have no idea where Arizona is. I wonder if she even realizes that Arizona is a state.
West was recently involved in a spirited debate in Wisconsin over 1070, indicating that she is strongly urging Milwaukee to add its name to cities that are boycotting Arizona. She seemingly had no regard to the millions of fellow Americans who stand to suffer financially. West left everyone in a panic as they reached for their PDAs to reaffirm where Arizona is located when she said, “If this was Texas, which is a state that is directly on the border with Mexico, and they were calling for a measure like this saying that they had a major issue with undocumented people flooding their borders, I would have to look twice at this. But this is a state that is a ways removed from the border.”
West has undoubtedly received a Geography 101 lesson from the media since her remarks. But will she now re-evaluate her stance on 1070? Will she now discourage Milwaukee residents from boycotting our great state? I could keep going.
The real victim here is not Arizona... but Milwaukee’s children. West actually serves as a mentor at Notre Dame Middle School in Milwaukee. That’s right, Ms. West, who probably wouldn’t make it through a round on the TV show “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?” is mentoring the youth of America. That is the true crime.
So, for those of you who oppose 1070, please stop with the antics. Join us in solving the illegal immigration problem that plagues our state. You run the risk of becoming associated with political hacks such as Ms. West, who can’t pick Arizona out of a lineup.

Michael, I concur. Unfortunately, with the prevalent "give me" attitude, things will probably continue as before....

Please explain how being concerned about a law that may lead to racial profiling and abuse makes a person "more concerned for those who are here illegally than you are for your fellow citizens." I suppose for those folks with fair skin and hair, the new law is not "controversial" in the least.
You state that "Arizona has a serious problem" with regard to illegal immigrants. But guess what Mikey? Those darned illegals are coming over because people on this side of the border keep HIRING them. And you know why American business owners hire them? Oh, I don't know, maybe because they work for wages most Americans refuse to stoop to, and since the business owners are paying them dirt wages under the table, they don't have to pay taxes either. Who'd of thunk it, huh?
Oh, and while Ms. West may need a geography lesson, you need an editor Mikey (or at least a dictionary), because you state "The list of proponents of the bill continue to amaze me", and then rant about whether anyone really cares about Shakira's or Hall and Oat's opinions. I believe you may have meant "opponent" as opposed to "proponent". Just a thought.
Cheers~

desert: Your point is well taken and one that the Obama administration will not touch for fear of offending his Hispanic bloc. He has demonstrated his reluctance time and time again. first, by gutting E-Verify. Next, under traitor janet, workplace audits were scaled by with advance notifications to allow the illegals to leave. then, when the audits are performed, they require the employer to fire the illegals as opposed to rounding them up and taking their fraudulent/stolen identity documents. This way they still have said documents to move on to the next willing employer. Lets not overlook Hilda Solis using our taxpayer funds to force employers of illegal aliens to pay prevailing wages as opposed to firing and rounding them up so legal Americans have an opportunity to take the positions. Then, we have loose cannon on deck Holder suing anyone who has the courage to speak out about the invasion from the South. We don't need external enemies. We have far too many inside the country.

Elected airheads in one state plotting to harm the citizens of another state. I guess the dumbing down process partly explains it. But, divided loyalties and seperate identities probably explain most of it.

don't you find it amazing that some of the states that are boycotting us have a bigger problem with illegals than we do. and if they don't they soon will have because a lot of the illegals that are leaving our state are eventually going to end up in their state then we will get to see how they handle a billion dollar bill for medical and other free services we give them. Look at other countries italy started deporting illigals from their towns and villages althow they may not be mexican they have realized that being in a country illegalli costs more than can endure. so close the border and deport them back where they came from
