Arizona’s legal system seems to be completely corrupt.

I’ve lived in Arizona since ‘95 and it seems as though every few months there is another story about someone with a fiduciary duty ripping off elderly citizens.

Just today I read another one where a nursing home operator seems to be ripping off another old lady.

Got her to sign over her home and give them large checks for thousands of dollars.

Fortunately the bank stopped at least one of them. But no one stopped them from taking her home.

Yet, no matter how many of these stories get exposed, nothing seems to get done to stop it.

Why hasn’t the Legislature passed whatever laws are necessary to imprison these people?

Why haven’t the police arrested this nursing home operator for obvious fraud and misuse of a clients’ assets and various other charges?

Yet they are still free to continue extorting money from this client even though the story was in the paper this morning.

Surely someone has contacted the sheriff or police officials about this before now.

Oh yeah, I bet these rip-off artists are registered Republicans. Profit rules.

@ William Maslen, "Oh yeah, I bet these rip-off artists are registered Republicans. Profit rules."

OK EVT, you've really reached a new low printing a letter of this caliber. This makes Dale Whiting's letters look like Tolstoy.

Certainly needs to have something happening about this crime, but you sir seem to be in a state of confusion. Truly a top notch EVT letter to the editor. I'm pretty sure they couldn't do any better. After all, it did accuse republicans didn't it.

    Slabside,

So you don't like Tolstoy, do you! Ever read any of his works? Thought not!

    William,

If your presumption proves correct, chances are it's only due to more people being registered republicans and than registered democrats. Going overboard with such logic has overarching negative effects. Shame on you!

Dale, why are you so stupid? I consider Tolstoy a writer of masterpieces. I consider your lousy writings on par to Tolstoy's compared to Maslen's rubbish above. It was actually a compliment to you OK? DUH!

    Dale,

Seems you have the answer to your armor piercing bullet proposal of not so long ago. Nobody gets through War and Peace. As to William, people you don't like caused all the bad things in the world, and prevent the people you do like from solving all the world's problems.

The reason nothing happens is that the dullards who have the power to changes things are all on the dole form the lawyers, accountants and other criminals bilking these poor old people out of their money.

This type of fraud crosses party lines. Most of these people probably claim to be good Christions, too.

    Rich,

I've read War and Peace twice! Haven't you? It goes a long way to explaining foreign cultures and family conflicts.

    William,

Looks like you have no defenders here. Back to the drawing board for you.

P.S. Where I missed the article, can you give us a date? I'll like to read it. From what I know, the courts are hyper-sensitive to this sort of thing. Perhaps the attorney general is not!

What we have to do is get beyond Democrat or Republican, We have to look close at what politicians are doing and when they don't act in the best intrest of the people and only work for their party, we need to get rid of them.

@William Maslen: Why does this happen? Because most people aren't willing to take care of their own parents. They'd rather stick them in a home (usually at taxpayer's expense), or don't monitor them closely enough.

However, suggesting that it's just Republicans shows that you just don't have a clue. It can't be identified by a person's political choice.

Opinions are like belly-buttons....everybody has one.

But as for "reading" ....BONHA N MNPB (Voyna i mir) or as the non-Cyrillac World refers to...Lev Nikolayevich's ....War and Peace.........if you haven't read it in the original 1869 1st Edition's Russian and French (Tolstoy only wrote 2% in French)...then you have just been ......"auditing"............ this masterpiece.

Dale Whiting ... I went searching the Republic's archives and I think he is possibly referring to this article:

So I'll try posting this tiny url

    Hopefully that will work.

Face it conservatives...Mr. Maslen only noted what most Americans know...if greed is your motivation, you are most likely registered as a Republican.

    Does the truth hurt?

I happen to think that Mr. Maslen wrote an excellent letter! Our current stock of representatives are worried about dogs and how to get them off leash (SB1065), about making college tuition higher (HB2675) and making it easier for students to carry guns on campus (SB 1467). They are worried about unions that do not exist in Arizona and, worst of all, how to make it easier for businesses to pollute without repercussion (HB2726).
So - it does make one wonder why our representatives are not focused on issues that could actually be of benefit to citizens.

    Dale,
I asked my parents each near the end of their lives, “What is your favorite book?” They both responded with ambivalence, there were too many good ones to pick a favorite. However, they each gave me a short list and on my mother’s list was Tolstoy’s War and Peace.

I have not read it yet. However, I am impressed that you have read it twice! It sounds like an endorsement.

Rodini: You are as clueless as the person that wrote this article! I'm not a Republican, either.

Tell me, does you lack of understanding human nature hurt?
