“So these French youths are rioting because they have a shortage of jobs there. So now that they’ve rioted, burned cars, torched buildings and in a couple of cases killed people, now people are really going to want to hire them.”

“Venters should not be so smug about France’s immigration woes. Five more years of our current immigration policy and the U.S. will be having the same problems.”

“I hope the fact that these people rioting in France are children of those originally brought in as guest workers, is not lost on the American public and politicians.”

“The results of the school bond issue vote proves that we support education in the Valley. Why don’t the legislators get it?”

“I’m a little confused. President Bush says that we don’t torture. On the other hand, Vice President Dick Cheney is saying we should have an exemption for the CIA. Is that just me, or is there a contradiction?”

“An editorial in Tuesday’s Tribune says President Bush should sign the torture bill. Well, torture’s illegal, but this bill says you can’t demean someone. So demeaning becomes a crime against terrorists. I say Bush is absolutely right to reject this bill.”

“Sens. John McCain and Ted Kennedy have not figured it out yet that we didn’t vote for either of them as president.”
