In the last decade, politics has become completely cynical and outright hateful. You read claims which offer no facts, just blatant lies. Millions of dollars are spent each election on smear and fear tactics to attack candidates, and most people don't question their validity. And of course the news media makes little or no verifications of these blatant lies.
But after a tragedy like Rep. Gabrielle Giffords shooting, they point their finger at everyone except themselves and say that is just politics. Let's not forget the other victims, especially a 9-year-old child. I hope there are lawyers out there who will take steps to help family members sue the person or persons who have created this toxic atmosphere and hold them responsible. Only after they are held responsible for their actions can we return to any normalcy. We don't need rifle scopes crosshairs or comments like "reload" from political leaders.
