The GOP’s efforts to denigrate and subordinate women is consistent with their decades-old attempts to force their belief system on all Americans. The recent uptick in assaults on women and their reproductive and health issues is but a first step in relegating them to second-class citizenship status.
It is easy to see what steps will follow. Soon the GOP will insist that women not be allowed to drive. After that, I imagine the GOP will authorize a department of morality to regulate the length of women’s skirts — if skirts are too short clothing police will twitch their ankles with long sticks. If the women resist, they will be arrested on moral charges. It’s easy to see that the next step would be to prohibit women from venturing out of their house unless they are accompanied by a male relative. If a woman should be caught with a non-relative male she could be charged with adultery. The male, of course, would face no charges. Then I’m sure they would pass legislation to cloak women in head-to-toe burqas whenever they are in public. Finally, the dear compassionate GOP would eliminate all of a woman’s civil rights — why would they need to vote or own property when the man can take care of that?
At last, the GOP would be happy!

When the letter writer mentions "assaults on women" and "eliminating women's rights" notice that he never mentions the "rights of living human fetuses" or even the word "FETUS" , "BABY" or..... '"NFANT".
It is as if a living human fetus is........."NOTHING"....a glob of bloody garbage...TO BE PUT IN A HUMAN WASTE BAG AND THROWN INTO THE NEAREST LANDFILL FOR THE RATS, THE CENTIPEDES AND THE WORMS TO EAT.
THE GERMAN SOCIALIST NAZI'S HAD A WORD FOR THE 6,000,000 JEWS, HOMOSEXUALS, MENTALLY RETARDED AND SLAVIC PEOPLE......"UNTERMENSCH" = SUB-HUMANS.
THERE HAVE BEEN MORE THAN 6,000,000 ABORTIONS (FETAL MURDERS" THAT HAVE TAKEN PLACE IN THE UNITED STATES SINCE THE 1970'S WHEN THE DEMOCRATS AND LIBERAL FEMI-NAZI's PUSHED THROW THEIR ..."INFANT HOLOCAUST" AGENDA.......6,000,000 HUMAN FETUSES MURDERED IN THE NAME OF ..........."WOMEN'S RIGHTS".....6,000,000 LIVES.

Right On Edward,
They try and make the word "FREEDOM" the centerpiece of their election conversation, but the only freedom they want is to exploit workers and manipulate our government and it's politicians into being pawns for the acquisition of unimaginable wealth!
The rest of America be damned!
They want to take away the freedom of women to choose, the freedom of not fearing your next illness or injury will put you in bankruptcy, the freedom to see a major investment in alternative energy sources rather than continue drill, drill, drilling, leaving us with ever increasingly polluted air and ozone depletion.
I could go on and on!
The list of freedoms the Repugs want to take away is nearly endless!

Eddy,
You really ought to distinguish what you mean by Republicans. Not all of us think alike. We have Social Conservatives, Evangelicals, TeaParty anti-big government Conservatives, it fact so many varieties of Conservatives that Ben and Gerry's is pressed to have more varieties.
But had you replaced the term Republican with a blank space, you know a [ ] and asked us to guess, had you first identified yourself as some sort of a Republican, I'd have filled in the blank with Muslim. Now, I know that Muslim is a poor choice for fill in. But my criticism of my own party is that we are far too narrow minded, too simplistic, and too inexperienced on the international scene to know what the heck we are doing.
But Eddy, I can say I agree in the least with your description of my Neo-Conservative friends. So I'm forced to conclude that you are really pulling our legs![wink]

Opps, I can't say I agree in the least . . . don't know what happened to that n't!

This is nothing but Obamanure's using the ongoing Limbaugh story as a way to paint the Republicans as waging a “war on women. It no different than Republican candidates accusing Obama of waging a “war on religion.”
Rodini, Dale and Truth should change their names to Larry, Moe and Curley.

Edward Murphy is only trying to launch a GOP misogyny, by using his derogatory remarks and foresight of consequences against them.
Good point, Slabside. Concerning; “a way to paint the Republicans as waging a “war on women”.
There is a war against women. But, the disagreement is over who is waging it. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced that religious organizations such as hospitals, charities, schools, and colleges and universities will be required to offer their employees insurance packages that include contraceptives and abortifacients. This is “ObamaCare” and it supersedes trivial stuff like spiritual values, morals, conscience, or religious liberty.
The GOP rejects President Obama's attempt to force private religious groups to carry contraception coverage, and there is an attempt by the Liberal Left to create a "war on women" over it.

I think some of these initiatives do make sense. Did you know that according to 2009 data from the Ohio Department of Health, 56.6 percent of abortions in that state occur in the first nine weeks of pregnancy. Some women even use cash advances to finance such things...And since the fetal heartbeat appears on monitors by six weeks into gestation in most cases, supporters of this idea believe (and I do) that it could somehow prevent thousands of abortions.

Where Uma thinks "some of these initiatives do make sense," don't we have an admission that "most" do not?
The real question is "Where in the Constitution does government have the right to invade the private relationship between its citizens and their physicians?" Making sense is just not the test, Uma!

The right wingers are claiming employers shouldn't have to allow insurance companies to cover medical care they disagree with such as contraception.
They say it is against their " religious " beliefs and they are paying for it.
Well ---- not entirely. Most workplace insurance requires employees to pay part of the cost. So how can the employer dictate how the employees part of the money is spent?
And remember, once the money is paid to the insurance company the employer / employee can no longer claim it is " their money " just as once we pay our taxes the money is no longer " my money ".
The arguement they are making is so full of holes it looks like a shower head.

Sarcastic snide remarks do NOT equal a logical fact filled refutation of someone's post.
But then we should know better than to expect either logic or facts from our resident right wingers.

Yey, you will post the manure listed below:
"Oh .... yeah .... the new Health Care Law which they mislabel " Obamacare " and which was passed by Congress which is full of Republicans ... is associated with that Ebony mo-fo."

Ok ok ok. Weill how do we then explain that the republican party is made up of a lot of Women."Since 1980, a "gender gap" has seen slightly stronger support for the GOP among men than among women. In the 2006 House races, 43% of women voted for GOP, while 47% of men did so.[66] In the 2010 midterms, the "gender gap" was reduced with women supporting GOP and Democratic candidates equally 49% to 49%." Maybe they don't believe as our level headed writer does?
VofReason posted at 1:47 pm on Thu, Mar 29, 2012.
Maybe they don't believe the same as level headed "truth" does either. Maybe it is just the left wing nuts who believe this?
