The adage goes that if you do not attempt to be part of the solution, then you are part of the problem.
That is more true in some cases than in others, but in the case of elections, those who participate are more a part of the solution even if their candidate or cause does not win the ballot.
The bottom line: Residents owe it to themselves and their community to get out and vote — in every election. The primary election is today and the races and ballot measures are largely local in nature and therefore affect readers’ everyday lives more than in most elections. So if you have not cast your ballot, we urge you to get out and do so. Participate in democracy and feel the exhilaration of freedom.
