Letters: What's happening to our state?

Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik says Arizona has become "the mecca for prejudice and bigotry." As embarrassed, disgusted and saddened as I am with the Tucson massacre, I couldn't help but wonder, whatever happened to the stereotypical purveyors of prejudice and bigotry? What has become of Georgia and Mississippi?

It appears that Arizona has stolen the national spotlight. With SB 1070, build the danged fence, concealed carry, our ethnic studies ban, anchor baby legislation, and on and on and on, I've actually thought of moving back to Illinois. They may be broke too, but at least they don't allow the emotionally deranged to purchase semi-autos legally.

There's only two things that stop me: the beautiful warm weather here and the realization that this state desperately needs the voice of moderation. Having to be right is an affliction I don't have. How ‘bout you?
