In regards to the East Valley Tribune headline from Friday, Aug. 31, 2012: ‘Rights come from God’: I’m happy that God changed his mind in 1920 and gave women the right to vote. I am certainly going to use my God-given right this year! I encourage all women to vote. Congress is wanting to take our rights away. If that happens, it could be another century plus before God changes his mind again.

    KC,

I got you point. Where our Founding Fathers attributed to the Creator certain unalienable rights, their list was flawed. They omitted the right of women to vote, of blacks to be free men, etc. And today, me men have made similar mistakes. And you are right. Women ought to vote. Women's issues are front and center.

So I for one am happy to know that you for one will be voting. Me too!

    KC,
The republicans aren't trying to deny anyone there rights. Free birth control and free unrestricted abortion are not a constitutional right. Those are the only things the republicans are hoping to change. The republicans believe that birth control is a woman's personal responsibility and should be treated like any other kind medicine or medical treatment. Granted that republicans are against abortion, it is the law of the land and is still available under certain circumstances. Personally, I believe that the government should stay out of the womb with birth control and abortions being a personal responsibility and should be treated as a medical treatment and procedure and not paid for by the taxpayer.

Chatmandu is not telling the truth (he is a liar). With Affordable Health care, women must pay a premium for insurance. Part of that required premium covers ‘preventive medicine’. Birth control is preventive medicine. Birth control is not “free” it is paid for with hard earned cash.

The Supreme Court decided that Affordable Health care is constitutional.

Interesting, some men like chatmandu say that women should pay extra for all of her “womb” care. She should shoulder all of her reproductive health costs above and beyond that of men because “womb” care is not part of the male milieu. Then chatman feigns moral superiority, he wants government to step right in and deny women the legal right to choose (or not) a safe abortion.

    Good letter KC Treble.

"The republicans believe that birth control is a woman's personal responsibility"

That says it all right there.

Birth control is (read that: should be) the responsibility of ALL SEXUALLY ACTIVE HETEROSEXUALS. Period.

The fact that certain segments of the population believe only the woman should be responsible is disappointing, but not surprising given some of their other views.

Put another way, if women don't ensure that the men they engage in sex with don't wear a condom (fifty cents or so) then it becomes their responsibility if they don't want to become pregnant.

"Put another way, men shouldn't have to bear any responsibility."

    Misogyny sucks.
