"As an American, I am highly offended when I read that I have to speak a foreign language to get a job in my own country. This country is going to crap!"

"Just a word of advice for our ‘imported' California Hispanic Rights activists and our ‘homegrown' Tucson and South Phoenix La Raza-istas. Don't try burning or desecrating the Bandera (flag) of Mexico, south of the border. It's against Mexican federal law to be disrespectful to a national symbol. The usual jail sentence is 1-3 years (depending on the bribe). In the Mexican prison you would more than likely have a ‘Midnight Express' experience, all your very own."

"A reminder to our GOP friends - Mitt's father (George) had his son sent to France (to complete a Mormon mission), rather than to risk him being sent to Vietnam. Reminds me of George H.W. Bush pulling strings to have little Dubya accepted into the National Guard, whereupon he spent most of his time getting drunk, snorting cocaine, and wrecking cars. Not that Newt was any better, since he avoided the draft and never served. At least Ron Paul was a flight surgeon and, at that time, married with two kids."

"Mitt Romney: The left is ‘riled' over him, the right is ‘mild' over him."

"If you support marijuana prohibition, you support the Mexican drug cartels."

"Thank you Mr. Livdahl for the information you shared Thursday about tax-dodging federal employees. The fact that they routinely get away with what, for the rest of us, would mean the loss of both liberty and property needs pointing out. I don't, however, think that lower ranking members of the military should be held to task for taxes. They are, after all, virtual slaves to whomever is commander-in-chief at the time. They shouldn't have to pay taxes at all."

"All the money thrown into education has not achieved more results to this point; More money will only support teachers' unions."

"How fitting that an article in today's ‘other' newspaper regarding bills presented in AZ's State Legislature to revamp unions ended on the same page that the Obituaries started. Unions had there time and place of importance but now they should just be shown to their graves."

"There was a time when the workers that also happen to belong to a union helped to build this country. But now the unions, utilizing these same workers, are destroying this nation. They have burdened American businesses and are trying to burden our governments into bankruptcy."

"Attorney General Eric Holder lied to Congress, and the American people, that he did not personally know about the gun-walking and the United States Department of Justice tactics in Operation ‘Fast & Furious' the day a U.S. Border Patrol agent was killed by Mexican drug lords using guns supplied by federal agents."

Vent #3: Also remind you GOP friends that Obama never served in the military and that he is a far left socialist.

Vent #5: I don't support marijuana and the marijuana users support the drug cartels.

Vent #7: You are right. After 40+ years the federal government has proven it can't teach our children. Eliminate the Dept of Education and return authority to the states and local boards.

Vent # 3 Since you took it upon yourself to do comparisons on service to our country. How about refreshing our memories on Bill Clinton and Obama's service to our country ? People in glass houses, well you know the rest !

Get rid of unions they are job killers. One U.S. corporation made $13.06 billion in one quarter, using Foxconn who employes over 200,000 employes who work for 12 hours a day 6 days a week, who earn $17 a day. Foxconn assembles i Pads and i Phones. The working conditions are so wonderful 17 employees have jumped off the Foxconn building to commit suicide. When we get rid of unions we will have full employment, by the way Foxconn is in Senzhen, China.[sad]

Venter # 3: It's MORONIC to hold one adult person responsible for the actions of another adult person! Should I judge you based upon your father's actions? You stated he went on a mission. Gee, isn't that religious in nature? Are you actually saying that he doesn't have the right to choose which religion to follow? I'm not Mormon, but I'm aware of their missions. To them, it's a calling. Not every one has the ability to handle combat. Don't forget, that the average age of soldiers in Vietnam was 19! Heck, some of them probably didn't have to shave! By the way, I'm neither a Mormon, or a Republican.

Venter#5: You are wrong. It's those that buy and use it that support cartels. Methinks you've been smoking too much of it to think clearly.

Venter #3 and your nut case critics.

All you who are throwing stones at Venter #3 for his comments about military service by this year's crop of Presidential Candidates and by the Presdent, let's review the facts.

Obama was born on August 4, 1961. That made him way too young for Vietnam. Not so for Romney or W or Newt. They all dodged the draft. I joined ROTC and just missed the last boat to Nam!

The President would have been 30 during Desert Storm. In 1991, Obama accepted a two-year position as Visiting Law and Government Fellow at the University of Chicago Law School to work on his first book. What would you ask of a 30 year old recent Harvard Law School graduate in Desert Storm?

Obama was elected to the Illinois Senate in 1996 and was reelected in 1998 and in 2002. And he was on the record in 2002 as opposing the War in Iraq. So was I. I new enough about the Middle East, its fractious politics and weapons of mass destruction [my specialty when I served] to recognize a con game by Cheney when I saw it. No way was Saddam hooked up with bin Laden. They were polar opposites!

Then in 2004 when he won the Democratic Primary for US Senator by a land slide, he got that speaking engagement at the Democratic National Convention, you know, "no red states, no blue states, just one United States." He was the Junior Senator from Illinois starting in 2005.

So just when the heck was he supposed to enlist and serve as a PFC? Are you complaining because he missesd Granada? I bet all of you did, too!

Captain Neo-Con writes: I new enough about the Middle East, its fractious politics and weapons of mass destruction [my specialty when I served] to recognize a con game by Cheney when I saw it."

One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line."
-President Bill Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998 (Before you even knew who George W. Bush was)

"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
-President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998

"Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face."
    --Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998

"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983."
--Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998

"We urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs."
Letter to President Clinton, signed by:
-- Democratic Senators Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others, Oct. 9, 1998

"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
-Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998

"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."
-- Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999

"There is no doubt that ... Saddam Hussein has reinvigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies""
Letter to President Bush, Signed by:
-- Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), and others, Dec 5, 2001

"We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandate of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and th! e means of delivering them".
    -- Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002

"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."
    -- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

"Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power."
    -- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."
    -- Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002

"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..."
    -- Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002

"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force -- if necessary -- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."
    -- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002

"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years ... We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction""
    -- Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002

"He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every significant UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his chemical and biological weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he has refused to do"
    -- Rep. Henry Waxman (D, CA), Oct. 10, 2002

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons"
    -- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002

"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction."
    -- Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002

"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real.."
    -- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003

SO A DEMOCRAT, BILL CLINTON, INVENTED the IRAQ / WMD LIE, and DEMOCRATS CALLED FOR MILITARY ACTION from 1998 until 2003. From Long before BUSH II (and Cheney) was elected.

CLINTON SUPPORTED THE INVASION and Hillary SUPPORTED THE SURGE.

So it seems all of Congress and the POTUS should have consulted Captain Neo-Con before invading Iraq.

It is not the union workers that are destroying the nation, it is the leadership, and those who take advantage of both the financial and political aspects of the unions. Hey, this could also be said about our country. It's not the Democratic or Republican or Independent voters, it is the leadership (congress) and those who influence them (bureaucrats and lobbyists).
Now who should we get rid of first???

    Venter 9:

The number of workers who are unionized is a very small percentage of the labor force. They are hardly capable of burdening American business or government into bankruptcy.

Below are the figures from the U.S. BUREAU OF LABOR STATISTICS.

Considering that private sector unionization is only 6.9% you can see they have little power to bankrupt business.

What has destroyed the economy of this country and the life of working people is G*R*E*E*D on the part of business and stockholders who think they are entitled to at least 10% more profit every year than the year before.

In late 2007 I got out of the stock market because it was apparent there was something very very wrong.

Companies were reporting record earnings and record profits but their stock would take a nosedive instead of going up like all the stock trading training manuals said should happen. The explanation from the guru's was that stockholders were disappointed!!!!

Record profits were not enough to satisfy stockholders.

    That's called G*R*E*E*D folks.

I was very lucky to get out before the crash began.

UNIONIZED WORKERS DID NOT CAUSE THAT.

You can check the numbers for yourself, I included a link.

But I doubt you will because your e n v y of those who have made a better deal for themselves blinds you to the truth.

    REPUBLICANS L I E ABOUT UNIONS.

    ----------

In 2011, the union membership rate, the percent of wage and salary workers who were members of a union, was 11.8 percent, essentially unchanged from 11.9 percent in 2010, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

Public-sector workers had a union membership rate (37.0 percent) more than five times higher than that of private-sector workers (6.9 percent).

Venter # 3: Concerning draft dodgers

Barack Hussein Obama signed the Selective Service System Registration Form, July 30, 1980. He had been required by law to register for the draft during the last week of July, after President Carter had revived mandatory draft registration retroactively in 1980. The Soviet invasion of Afghanistan was the main reason that President Carter revived the draft.

Obama signed the registration July 30, 1980, which was during the week required for him to register. The form specified Obama's "current address" as being 1617 S. Beretania (Apt. 1008) in Honolulu, Hawaii – instead of his California where he was living at that time while attending college in Los Angeles.

It was also the Iran hostage crisis and a possible war in the Middle East when President Carter revived the draft. Dodging the draft by college youth was known then . . . And Barack Hussein Obama’s draft dodging situation cannot be overlooked as some mere faux pas.

Venter # 10: Attorney General Eric Holder caught lying again!

Speaking before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on the controversial sting operation called Operation Fast and Furious, Holder again lied about cover-up by the Justice Department of the gun-trafficking issues . . . despite contrasting information.

The U.S. is still awaiting the conclusions of an internal investigation, regarding Holder and federal service found culpable in that systematic investigation of a matter of public interest.

Can we all get over the argument of which President has military experience? If anything, history should teach us that this is in no way a determinant for Presidential greatness. In example, Washington-military experience, great president, Jefferson, no military experience, great president, Lincoln-very little military experience (served briefly in a militia group in the Black Hawk Wars, did not see combat), great president, Grant- great General, perhaps the worst President. We could go on. As for Romney not serving in Vietnam, his father actually came out in opposition or the war in 1967. I truly believe that the argument started when the far right critisized Clinton for not serving in Vietnam, but then supported G.W. Bush, whose father kept him away from the war, trashed John Kerry and Max Cleland, who had both served in Vietnam (and in Cleland's case, he lost both legs in Vietnam, but was critisized for being unpatriotic in his 2002 re-election campaign.).

    Mr. 666,

You ask of me "When did I [666] mention Obama?" What do you refer to? Did I say in regard to anything in particular that you mentioned the President? No, I did not!

Now "chatmando" did mention the President.

"Vent #3: Also remind you [sic, your] GOP friends that Obama never served in the military and that he is a far left socialist. "

You challenged "chatmando" and rightly so.

And as for Slabside's rantings and ravings, here's the focus.

We went into Iraq on the allegations that
    1) Saddam and bin Laden has ties -- not so. There were polar opposites.
    2) Saddam had been developing weapons of mass destruction -- not so. I have more to say on that below.
    3) Saddam has used weapons of mass destruction on his own people -- technically correct, but with a major caviot.
    4) If we did not stop Saddam we'd have another Desert Storm to deal with -- definately not so.
And finally after the foregoing allegations had been proven wrong
    6) Getting rid of Saddam was a worthy goal in and of itself. Debatable. The over all standard of living in Iraq before 1991 was much higher than it is now. And compared to 2002/3 when we invaded, commerce was beginning to pick up. It's still slumping now.

In 2003 with expectations that the UN sponsored oil embargo/sanctions would be lifting, even the Chineese were in Iraq looking to do business to renew and upgrade its oil development and exportaton potentials. That's why Cheney conditioned this development on companies from nations that partnered with us in the envasion of Iraq. And recall, in 1991 the Saudis warned us not to envade Iraq, not to depose Saddam.

Saddam was the only political figure who could keep both Shia and Sunni Muslims in check. Yes he ruled with an iron fist. But was it worth our nation's treasures to ride him from the scene? Saddam used nerve gas [the weapon of mass distruction] on the northern Kurds. Now I like Kurds. But neither the Iraqs, the Iranians nor the Turks do. The Kurds want a unfied and autonomous Kurdistan. And they deserve one. And fearing that would be befriending the Kurds in Norther Iraq prevented the Turks from allowing us entrance to Iraq from Turkey, a much shorter course to northern Iraq where Saddam was most likely to hide.

After Colin Powell found out that he had been lied to, he became Richard [D . . k] Cheney's staunchest enemy in the cabinet. And Haliburten made a fortune.

So that is the long and the short of the 2003 invasion of Iraq. We got ourselves dupped.
