President Obama has taken the step in the right direction. Since Congress has not acted on the Dream Act it is the perfectly right time to make the move to make sure if SB 1070 is found in favor of the State of Arizona, the hard working immigrants will be protected. Jan Brewer, Sheriff Joe and Russell Pearce can take their racist stands in a highly-Hispanic populated state and they are all going to lose. The racist but supposedly religious politicians of our state who always want to preach “family values” want to break up families and send perfectly law-abiding kids educated in our schools that have parents paying taxes and contributing to our communities back to Mexico.
Maybe these racist-minded politicians need to hear the preachings from their own churches. The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Catholic church and the Utah State Legislature adopted the Utah compact, which has seven points to treat all law-abiding people equally, does not break up families, and does not question anyone about race if they are not breaking the law. Take your stand. Follow your religion’s beliefs or be a racist against children of God.

True it isn't the kids fault they were brought here, possibly.
Many of them were old enough to know what they were doing. If they were big enough to hike through the desert for days they had to know they were doing something illegal.
But, putting that aside, they have been here for years and have made not one move to become legal.
Many of the have crossed back and forth across the border the visit family for the holidays.
Why didn't they apply when they were back home?
BECAUSE THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT OUR LAWS THEY JUST WANT OUR MONEY.
So now Obama ignores the millions of American citizens out of work ( especially all the teenagers who can't find summer jobs ) and gives favorable treatment to people who have invaded our country.
We are the only major world power that does NOT enforce it's border.

John: it is so simple to just scream "racist" anytime you don't get what you want. I agree, something needs to be done, but what Obama has done has brought us another step closer to tyranny. Do you know what that means? Congress is supposed to deal with ALL legislation. The executive branch (the president) is to enforce those laws. This president has decided to rule by fiat - something the Founders and the consitution expressly warned against. This is the problem. Don't you get it? We are a nation of laws. The president does not, or should not, have the privilege of deciding what laws to enforce and which to ignore. Wanting to enforce a law does NOT make one a racist. But you and your ilk can't win the logical, legal arguments. So you bellow "racist" as if that makes your case correct. I get it: sending some kid who has lived here most of their lives back to a country they don't know isn't right. But neither is crossing the border illegally. Our government (R and D alike) have caused this problem by not protecting the border for many years. Name any other country that allows illegal residents to stay there, use the public schools, hospitals, etc freely. Whose country is this? Obama did not do the right thing, he showed us again that he is a would-be king, a so-called "professor of consitutional law" who doesn't respect the constitution. He probably isn't smart enough to understand it either.

I'm not sure it's so easy to call folks who disagree with Obama "racists" here -- the names the letter writer mentioned are either politicians capitalizing on the issue (Brewer and Arpaio) or are zealots (Pearce, though he dances very closely to the racist line, particularly with some of his emails and folks he associates with).
But mesateacher wants to condemn politicians of both parties for "not protecting the border."
Just politicians? How about businesses who enjoy the cheap labor of illegal immigrants? How about citizens -- us -- who enjoy the lower costs for some products due to cheaper labor costs?
I'm not smart enough to debate Obama's use of executive order here -- I'd prefer the legislative route -- but it's ironic that some who say he should do so ignore the fact that since he's been in office, a form of the Dream Act has been introduced three different times, once in 2010 even passing out of the House, only to be constantly stymied by some of the very Republicans who today ask why didn't Obama do something about this earlier.
Now, mesateacher, I'm all for better border security . . . however, right now, the flow of illegal immigrants has slowed to historical lows, the President deported more illegal immigrants last year than President Bush did in 8 years, there are now more Border Patrol agents on our border, and drones are increasingly employed for interdiction.
So when will we know border security is sufficient?

John Chiazza . . . “HB497 in Utah”, which is an Arizona-style immigration enforcement law stands in direct contrast to the “Utah Compact” that you are talking about.
Following Arizona's lead in implementing their own individually tailored immigration laws – SB 1070 and HB 2162 – Utah Gov. Gary Herbert also signed a (Arizona-style) Utah HB497 immigration law.
Racist against children of God?
President Obama's decision for immunity from deportation for young illegal immigrants, blatantly ignores the law and has sparked debate across the country. Many Hispanic students like the move, but many are skeptical that all of this is happening just a few months before the election.
Without doubt, Obama's amnesty for illegal immigrants is against the law, and to ignore Congress and the Constitution is exactly what Obama has done through this kind of a backdoor-amnesty measure.

Dear Mr. Chiazza from Gilbert,
First of all let me thank you for having the guts to put your name on your Opinion.
Secondly, Mr. Chiazza, I would like to direct your attention to the.....UNITED STATES CODE, TITLE 8, CHAPTER 12, SUB-CHAPTER II, PART VIII, SECTION 1325...that is currently the Law of the Land no matter what Obama does.
Since these youngsters, young adults and adults are not Citizens of the United States of America but Citizens of Mexico (80%), Honduras, El Salvador, Guatamala and Points South and have entered the United States = ILLEGALLY = THEY ARE NOT "LAW ABIDING".........THEY ARE "LAW BREAKERS" = CRIMINALS. THEY HAVE COMMITED A CRIME WHETHER VOLUNTARILY OR NOT. THEY ARE RESIDING AND RECEIVED BENEFITS THAT THEY ARE NOT ENTITLED TO. THEY ARE STEALING THE AMERICAN TAX-PAYER'S MONEY AND JOBS.
JUST BECAUSE THE CATHOLIC CHURCH WANTS MORE MONEY IN THE SUNDAY COLLECTION BASKET AT MASS EVERY SUNDAY FROM THESE ILLEGAL ALIENS DOES NOT MAKE THEIR PRESENCE IN OUR NATION.....LESS ILLEGAL ACCORDING TO THE US CODE NO MATTER WHAT THEIR AGES ARE
JUST BECAUSE THE MORMON (LDS of JC) WANTS MORE TITHE MONEY COMING IN EVERY MONTH FROM THESE ILLEGAL ALIENS DOES NOT MAKE THEIR PRESENCE IN OUR NATION .....LESS ILLEGAL ACCORDING TO THE US CODE NO MATTER WHAT THEIR AGES ARE.
DON'T BELEIVE ME....THEN LOOK UP IT UP ON THE WEB AND THERE IS NOTING.........NOTHING....MENTIONED ABOUT THE AGE OF THE ALIEN IN THE UNITED STATES .......ILLEGALLY.

Law abiding kids should never be deported unless they were smuggled in illegally and became criminals, along side their parents, the very first moment they were inside our borders. Other than that I agree totally with you. Also, no child should be left behind when their criminal invader parents are sent packing home. The only reason this is a smart move, albeit illegal, is that more uneducated Hispanics will be fooled into thinking Obongo is their pal and so vote for him. Everything and anything Obongo does until the election will be designed specifically to gain him more votes.

P.S.....MR. Chiazza from Gilbert, since you mentioned "children of God", may I refer you to the Bible and one particular Child of God, Jesus Christ's Birth.
"In those days a decree went out from Caesar Agustus that all the World should be registered. This was the first Registration when Quirinius was Governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joesph also went from Galiliee, from the Town of Nazareth, to Judea , to the City of David, which is called Bethlehem because he was of the House and Lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with Child"...................Luke 2:1-5.
As you can see, Mr. Chiazza from Gilbert...........Joseph followed the Law of the Land (Roman....not Judaic) and registered as a ..........LEGAL RESIDENT OF BETHLEHEM, JUDEA.......ALONG WITH HIS WIFE, MARY, AND THEIR CHILD, JESUS CHRIST.

Why whenever writers use racist in their writing do you usually finish thinking that they are the racists. So what do you tell the people who didn't break the law and who actually come into the US legally? You did it right, but it was really a waste of your time and money? And what about these kids that are still minors, assume their illegal parents getn to stay here to take care of them? It is either the law with no exceptions or it is nothing.
VofReason posted at 2:02 pm on Wed, Jun 20, 2012.
I think someone needs to tell Mike McC that citizens and companies don't enforce the border. If it isn't being done, that is on the Government whose job it is. This is the definition of socialism, people who stay in Hotels gain benefit of cheap rooms because the hotel hires illegals to clean the rooms. However, taxpayers pay for the illegal labor to be here- education, foodstamps, healthcare, rent subsidies etc etc.

Obama ignored his own words that he said last December, saying that he couldn't just change things up because he felt like it.
Also, in 2007, then-Senator Obama criticized Bush for using executive privileges. Now that he’s president, he’s saying, “To heck with the Constitution. I can do whatever the heck I want.”
He's a BIG hypocrite, don't ya think?
OldMan, are you DAFT? It's called ILLEGAL for a reason. If you're here illegally, you are a criminal. End of discussion. As for those "poor children" who came here as babies, well, their parents are criminals for bringing them here. They should still become legal citizens. I'm all for that. I am NOT for people coming here and not obeying our laws. It became a problem a long time ago.
OldMan posted at 5:24 am on Thu, Jun 21, 2012.
mrconservative,
No, I'm not daft. Actually quite the opposite. I look at things and rationalize. For decades illegal immigrants were actually looked at with a blind eye by the public, the topic of humor for many. And for others, public and private, were a source of very cheap labor. In other words where were are these loud voices of "It's called ILLEGAL for a reason."?
Weren't agri-corporations using hundreds of known illegals for years? Do you think the elected officials were not aware of illegals?
Do you really think one political party has the best interests of America over another?
mrconservative, where were you 20-25 years ago????????????
VofReason posted at 12:43 pm on Thu, Jun 21, 2012.
So the theory here is that no body did anything about it before so no one should do anything now? Boy that is rational OldMan. Yes, businesses and farmers took advantage of illegal cheap labor, but niether is incharge of making laws nor enforcing borders. The Government is. As Dale says, Mexico is a 3rd world country. I do not blame people for wanting and seeking a better life. Unfortuneatly, that doesn't help them to fix Mexico.

I guess dialogue doesn't stand a chance here, just as in other areas of our society. Criticism thrown around like political labels.
VofReason, the point is, if you're not too angry too think, is why wasn't anything done before? This is not a theory I'm proposing, it's food for thought, but some readers are anorexic I guess. So if it's agreed it's been going on for years, then several previous administrations have not taken sufficient action.
Businesses and farmers using illegal immigrants, but making the laws is not their job!!!! So I can sell pot, and it's just up to law enforcement to stop me? I don't have a moral obligation to NOT sell pot?
Arizona Willie posted at 3:20 pm on Thu, Jun 21, 2012.

Actually, if pot were legalized, it would impact the terrorists behind much of the illegal alien invasion today (i.e. the drug cartels).
And what does morality have to do with growing a medicinal plant?
(yes, this is a Leon/mrconservative-baited question!)
Arizona Willie posted at 10:55 pm on Thu, Jun 21, 2012.
Old Man when did people invading across our southern border become a problem?
Well, when they began having babies in our hospitals and the taxpayers paid. When those babies were ruled citizens and entitled to Aid to Dependent Children benefits and taxpayers paid.
When the parents committed identity theft and took over people's names and Social Security numbers in order to take jobs away from legal workers.
We won't even begin to get into the actual crimes of the Mexican cartels committed on America soil.
It became a problem when the invading aliens took over all the jobs in the fast food industries which were the normal first working experiences of American teens and the American teens could no longer get a job in fast food. Since the advent of SB1070 that has been changng as the invaders have been moving out of Arizona and you can actually order KFC in English again ... some places.
Invading aliens have created many many many problems even someone as old as you can probably understand if they wanted to.

Arizona Willie,
In this age of electronic communication I can see where it is hard to get a feel for the tone of a question. My questions are merely meant to stimulate dialogue. Through your and others personal attacks it is a sign that intelligent, objective conversation is rare. This is an objective of the political parties.
When citizens now longer have civil discussions, when it is me/us against you/them, as a society we are on a downhill slide. I've been called "daft", my age has been used as a reason to my not "understanding". I haven't used one label or attack.
Now let's see more personal attacks in regards to this response.

One more thing, John Chiazza,
Your "law office" where you take cases of illegal aliens hurt on the job is in violation of the Constitution of the State of Arizona.
Arizona Constitution
Article 28
Section 35. Actions by illegal aliens prohibited
A person who is present in this state in violation of federal immigration law related to improper entry by an alien shall not be awarded punitive damages in any action in any court in this state.
Your boiler-room business needs to be shut down immediately. Thanks!
