“...for the President to perform his constitutional duties, it is imperative that he receive candid and unfettered advice and that free and open discussions and deliberations occur among his advisors and between those advisors and others within and outside the Executive Branch.”
With this pronouncement, on June 28, 2007, George W. Bush refused to let Harriet Miers, his choice for the Supreme Court, and Sara Taylor, a former political director for him, respond to Congressional subpoenas. He did it again for them one week later.
On July 13, 2007, Bush again invoked executive privilege in refusing to release documents relating to the friendly-fire death of Pat Tillman, noting that certain papers requested “implicate executive branch confidentiality interests...”
Bush invoked executive privilege a fourth time on August 1, 2007, when he refused to allow his “brain,” the nefarious Karl Rove, testify in regard to the mass firings of federal prosecutors. The White House noted, “Mr. Rove, as an immediate presidential advisor, is immune from compelled congressional testimony that relates to his official duties. ...”
So explain to me why Darrell Issa is upset about the White House invoking, for the first time in 3 1/2 years, executive privilege for Eric Holder?

Edward,
No one died that's the big difference. Tell your Obama excuses for executive privilege to the Agent Perry's family.
I still can't understand why no one isn't calling out our government's Fast and Furious program as against international law for allowing guns to walk across an international border without informing the government of Mexico. If this was happening to the U.S. we would be calling for a war against such a government.

Chatman, Walking guns was introduced during the Bush admin. The investigation into Fast and Furious began after agent Perry was shot. “We all know” that guns don’t kill people. [lol]

The problem is the Mexican government is as corrupt as the drug lords. If you want to talk about President's failures GEORGE W. BUSH is leading with thousands of U.S. dead, and over 100 thousand dead in two failed wars.

Ok Eddie, I'll try to answer your ridiculous notion that it's ok because Bush did it. Fast and Furious, whether started by Bush or not, was pushed by Obongo and his minions and cost the lives of countless people in Mexico and here in America. So are you saying because something was begun under a previous administration that it shouldn't be investigated after all the damage it caused? Don't you think this "Bush did it" answer has played out long enough?
Cerulean, the Fast and Furious investigation began after agent Perry's death because that was when we found out about it. That was when insiders started telling all they knew. Defending Obongo's part in this affair is as despicable a display of a lack of remorse as I have ever encountered.
Rational Human posted at 2:44 pm on Sat, Jun 23, 2012.
Yes Truth, continue on trying to hide Obongo's part in this unscrupulous affair by bringing up Bush's mistakes. It's like me telling the judge, " but you honor, I only killed ten people and Bush killed thousands." "I'm a freakin' angel compared to Bush." "I should be getting the Nobel Peace Prize" If you were the judge would you let me go? Tell the Truth.

Issa is a hypocritical tool.
The Mérida Initiative is a Billions of dollar aid package to support President Calderón's war on drugs by, among other things, sending military grade weapons and helicopters to Mexico.
1) Rep. Darrell Issa voted "yes" specifically to Fund: "Project Gunrunner" in June 2008.
2) In January 2008: ATF went to Congress and asked Congress to Fund Project Gunrunner for 3 years.
3) In 2008, HR-6028 combined "Project Gunrunner" with the "Merida Initiative" also known as the "Merida Program."
4) The Title of the Bill HR-6028 is:
Assistance for Mexico and Central America for Anti-Drug Programs (Merida Program)
5) A SubSection of the Bill HR-6028 is Titled: PROJECT GUNRUNNER INITIATIVE
6) Among other things, Project Gunrunner is directly funded through Merida Initiative
7) In 2007 the Congress held hearings on Merida Initiative
8) Merida Initiative is complicated because it is an initiative that crosses through: Homeland Security, Secretary of State, ATF, FBI & DoJ.

Executive privilege that Edward F. Murphy wrote about – was/is designed to protect documents prepared for the president of the United States.
But President Obama invokes executive privilege to bar (from release) documents, related to Operation “Fast and Furious” that show how the Department of Justice handled its investigation of the botched 2010 gun-tracking operation in which U.S.-purchased guns ended up in Mexico.
Only months before the presidential election, President Obama and Attorney General Holder have ignored the rule of law and prevented the American people from learning the truth in the “Fast and Furious” gun-walking affair.
For over a year, the Attorney General claimed that neither the President nor the White House was involved in this scandal. Now, with a contempt vote, criminal investigation could land Department of Justice officials in jail if it turns out they lied to Congress or tried to cover up their knowledge of the operation.

Fast and Furious began under Obama, not Bush. This is a proven fact. Holder won't release the documents that supposedly "prove" that Bush started it. Near the end of Bush's presidency, he flatly refused to start Fast and Furious.
