Letter: Left’s ‘big voices’ said worse about Palin

The left’s faux outrage over the recent Limbaugh comments are amusing at best and pathetic at worst. When Bill Maher and other “big voices” on the left called Sarah Palin a slut — and worse — those on the left chimed in. Never forget that the leftist doesn’t think in absolute terms of morality or right and wrong. Operating under the concept of moral relativism, whatever furthers the left’s political agenda becomes the truth.

Michael is absolutely right about the Left here -- Bill Maher and Ed Schultz in particular have used the most vile language in describing Sarah Palin, Maher using both the "C-word" and the "T-word."

Schultz, of course, was suspended from MSNBC for a week or two, deservedly.

But the Left sure seems situational in its love for women. I guess from some folks' view, on both extremes, there are "good" women and "bad" women.

What's all this insane talk about "left" and "right?" On the issues in hand, the talk I listen to is "women" versus "men." And the ladies on the left make much more sense than the ladies on the right [i.e. Fox News]!

Perhaps if Limbaugh had donated $1 million to Obama's super PAC fund like Maher did the libtools would not be so up in arms. Naw, they're to stupid to change.

That sort of talk is never acceptable. Never. Not the single sentences from Schultz or Maher or the 4 days of vitriolic garbage from Limbaugh.

    Never. No excuses.

For the letter writer to play the "what about those guys" equivalency game without condemning the sexism and misogyny in his own house shows that he has two sets of standards.

Typical of the "it's ok when my side does it" mentality.

Strangely, Maher has said people should accept Rush's apology!

    Now that's really strange.

Rush called the girl vile names on more than one day of programming. It wasn't something he said in an off moment. He scripted it into his rants.

Rush only " apologized " when sponsors left his show costing money.

As Maher said Rush is the prostitute.

Rush should be taken off the air, not just for this incident but for his hate filled and violence fostering speeches through the years.

He has been calling women " feminazis " for years and getting away with it.

I think it is past time for Rush to become a memory on tv / radio.

People ( women especially ) should be calling the radio stations that carry him and they should be organzing boycotts of those stations.

So Limbaugh is to be denied his rights under the 1st amendment Willie? Why don't we just jail him or execute him while we're at it huh?

Here is where Lefties always get wobbly. Our friend AZ Willie says that Rush should be taken off the air etc etc. When those on the right don't like something (say MSNBC, NPR, most Hollywood R- read X movies, The New York Times, New Times, etc) we don't buy it. When Lefties don't like something, they want it to go away. Think about that for a minute

Ok VofReason. "The ladies on the left, including Dupuy, make more sense than do the ladiers on the right."

FYI, I posted my comment on Dupuy's piece about 90 minutes before I posted comments here!

Not judging what one side said or became enraged about versus the other side, I don't think this is a left or right reaction. There is no good reason (except to get publicity) for either Maher or Limbaugh to use the language or insults they did.

The reason for the difference in outrage may have been that Sarah Palin appeared as a tough, seasoned politician who was an active participant in the political battle. The remark on HBO, at the time garnered little actual press.

Sandra Fluke, on the other hand, is a college student testifying before congress so she seems non-aggressive and vulnerable. The apparent “bullying” of her by Limbaugh got a lot of press by all networks and every news program.

The difference is the perceived “shooting spit-balls at a battleship” versus “using a shotgun to kill a canary.”

Left/right/middle doesn't matter to me. Your argument has more strength with facts, or well thought out ideas by themselves, than when you decide to add "colorful" words.

I haven't listen to him for years because I find HOW he speaks distasteful....
