The Chandler Lieutenants and Sergeants Association (CLASA) in association with the Arizona Conference of Police and Sheriffs (AZCOPS), local 7077 has unanimously endorsed the candidacy of Donna Wallace for Chandler City Council.

CLASA, a union of over 60 police supervisors of the Chandler Police Department, is an organizational partner of AZCOPS a 7,000-member strong coalition of police, deputy sheriffs and correctional officers throughout Arizona.

CLASA is the only charter-recognized bargaining organization for police supervisors in Chandler, and CLASA takes exception with Donna Wallace’s opponent, Kevin Hartke, who claims that local police endorse him. Hartke’s assertion that city of Chandler police endorse him is at best a “political slight of hand.” The Fraternal Order of Police, although a fine organization, is a benevolent order that is not the official voice of our local police officers and supervisors. CLASA believes that in the interest of veracity, Hartke should immediately correct this assertion and remove the “endorsed by police” banners that are affixed to his campaign signs.

F.B. Robinson, Trustee, CLASA

Too bad. I always vote against such expressed support. It stinks. The only support I question more than local police unions/associations is Sheriff Joe's.

I know from speaking to his employees that he is not a good administrator. He needs to be voted out of office in 2012. But Joe is great at exploiting the media. So I fear that we will be stuck with him for many more years.[sad]
