“Why is it so difficult for Gilbert citizens to understand that Linda Abbott was a prime mover and pusher for Prop 406, a 17% tax which was soundly defeated as it was found that it was totally unnecessary. She may be a nice lady but terribly wrong in decisions affecting taxpayers. Victor Petersen would be an excellent replacement for her. He is an honest financial expert.”
—
“Here we go again, folks. If there’s a run-off election in several months for Gilbert’s City Council, our streets will again fill up with ugly political sign graffiti. All those electioneering signs on city controlled easement are illegal according to state law ARS 9-500.14. Google it to see. Politicians continue to do it because residents don’t seem to care. The problem will go away when citizens complain. How about you? Do you care?”
—
“I do so love The Vent! It’s the only place I know of that publicly — although anonymously — attracts rabid right-wingers and exposes their penchant for pigeon-holing their fellow citizens. So, if I don’t care for FOX, I must watch MSNBC? Nope. Guess again. We get our news from many sources, and I don’t subscribe to MSNBC or MoveOn, either. I actually have the ability to have my own opinions.”
—
“To Sunday’s Venter: Pearce and Patterson are not extremists, and you are not a moderate. Get the message extremist!”
—
“Please stop wasting space with letters telling us to vote the incumbents out. We have no choice where I live in east Mesa. Even though I am a registered Republican I have no choice!”
—
“The only way for liberals to get their lies out is to get federal funding for NPR. They will not support the private, honest methods like the conservatives do. If their story was truthful it would have the needed backing as well.”
—
“If CNN reporters have no right to even suggest military action in Libya , because they had never served, what about Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Libby and the majority of our elected officials!”
—
“You gotta love the NFL negotiations; a bunch of millionaires arguing with a bunch of billionaires over who is the most greedy! Another reason to do something family-oriented on Sunday afternoon.”
—
“Reagan, like myself, left the Democratic party once he realized how hypocritical it is to keep the poor, poor just for their votes.”

First and Second Ventesr:
Don't know anything about Gilbert Town Politics. Perhaps we need to hear more?
Third Venter"
I just discovered LinkTV on Direct TV. If you do not have it, visit someone who does. It's worth switching from cable or lobying cable to get it.
Fourth Venter:
We all have our own opinions. My hero, Barry Goldwater, once said that extremism in defense of liberty was no vice. But I do not see either Pearce or Patterson as defending liberty! I just see the vice.
Fifth Venter:
You always have a choice, just not good ones. You can choose to stay home and not vote, go and vote even if it appears to be senseless, or run yourself. Reveal who you are, write articles expressing your views, and convince us to vote for you. That is THE choice of a live time. That was the choice of our founding fathers.
Sixth Venter:
NPR and liberals tied together? Perhaps Juan Williams would agree, but not me.
Seventh Venter:
Remind me again. Where and when did "Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, and Libby" serve their counties? Bush 41 was a WW2 pilot, but I sense you refered to that draft dodging son of his Bush 43. Cheney, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz served to get us into a war to find and destroy non-existent weapons of mass distruction, weapons the existence of which Joe Wilson was able to refute before invasion, and Libby? Well you tell me!
Eighth Venter:
I moved to Phoenix from St. Louis and started following the Rams. Then Bidwell moved the Cardinals to Phoenix and demanded we build him a new stadium. I guess he did not like the old one. I suggested we raise not $200 million but $50 million and give it to Bidwell if he would leave town on the next stage. Then the Rams moved to St. Louis and finally won a Super Bowl for that town. Busch Statium was built in appreciation for that winning franchise. Next, Kirk Warner moved from the Rams to the Cardinals and almost won his second Super Bowl here. But leave it to Bidwell. We shall not ever get that close again.
A long time follower of Bidwell antics.
Ninth Venter:
You can speak for yourself, but not for Ronnie. I learn economics at the feet of his chief economics advisor. One day we got a lecture on come point, then the next day we heard that point coming out of Ronnie's mouth on the campaign trail. But Ronnie did not really believe in Reagonomics. My professor quit him when he discovered that breach of trust and faith.
So naturally I disagree with your position on what Ronnie believed in. He accomplished much during his two terms. But his economics accomplishments proved to be voodoo work.
