"So someone thinks Indians live on handouts? Did you study history? The government forced Indians onto that land through treaties of which they broke."

"Alcohol prohibition didn't work and marijuana prohibition is not working either except to provide full government employment for those doing the prohibiting."

"Obama-ites argue that 98 percent of Catholic women use birth control, Palin says 98 percent of Catholic men have vasectomies, 98 percent of doctors recommend Crest, the final study concluded that 98 percent of doctors were gynecologists. Confused? Yes I am."

"Family planning is a basic human right. Women are not free without universal family planning. The cost of the required physical exams plus the method is very expensive. It is unfair to women, who cannot afford family planning, to be forced to bear children they cannot afford. Those who block family planning will then criticize the poor for having too many children. We must support legislation that makes family planning available to all who want it."

"President Obama appears to be taking up interest in the plumbing profession by ensuring that all women get free health insurance relating to birth control pills, abortion-producing drugs and sterilization coverage. I suggest if he wishes to pander to women for votes, he make it equal opportunity and provide all men free health insurance for vasectomies, something a professional plumber would never overlook. Ouch!"

"Maybe it would be easier on Obama if he just told us the few parts of the Bill of Rights in the Constitution he will defend. He is against freedom of the press, he is against freedom of speech, he is against the right to bear arms, he is against the right of protection from unreasonable search and seizure. I say he is against these rights, however, he is for them when it suits him."

"Wow! Can't wait to have Mitt Romney in town. Maybe he can offer some Bain Capital-type pointers to Mesa Public Schools, like maybe getting rid of more hourly middle class employees and hiring more administration-type people. I've heard he is a real hard core ULTRA CONSERVATIVE. He says government is top heavy, so if he would promote more administration in Mesa Public Schools at the expense of the foot soldiers that keep the schools running, that will be right up his political alley. Would it be possible to move the state pension fund to the Cayman Islands? Just asking."

"Whitney Houston: A has-been, alcoholic, drug addict and active participant in domestic violence, found dead in a hotel bathtub. Can someone tell me why Hollywood and the media afford such individuals the celebrity she's receiving at death? Once a great singer and entertainer -- that was the time for recognition and kudos. Now, on with the fame for up-and-comers who, unfortunately, also have high odds of pouring themselves into the gutter with the disease of ‘fame.'"

You have to remember the Catholic Church ruled, anyone who was not of European decent were half human and this gave Europeans the right to plunder, murder, rape and cofiscate their property. Mid-sixteenth century, Juan Gin'es de Sup'ulveda one of the Holy Roman Emperor's chaplains.[sad][sad][sad][sad]

What made it so easy for the Europeans to conquer the American indians was because the American indians hated each other and were more than willing to kill their neighbors for European guns, ect, live and learn. [wink][wink]

While questions surround Whitney Houston's cause of death, many also question her Christian conviction. Houston's funeral will be held Saturday in the Newark, N.J., at Newark's New Hope Baptist Church, where she first showcased her singing talents as a child, and learned about God.

An autopsy at the Los Angeles County coroner's office begun Sunday, but results will be withheld at the request of Beverly Hills police. According to Whitney Houston's family; the singer did not die from drowning, but rather from what appears to be a combination of Xanax and other “prescription drugs” mixed with alcohol.

A woman who loved and desired God in her life, two days before her death she sang "Jesus Loves Me" at a night club in Los Angeles. It would be her last song to the world.

Vent #1: Please go the reservation and see what happens when the government takes control and you have to live off of the government handout.

Vent #2: Where do you stop legalizing drugs. Booze, MJ, coke, meth, heroin? Will you treat everyone and support their habits? Where will they get the money to buy the drugs.

Vent #3: Why is the government even in the birth control business?

Vent #4: "Family planning is a basic human right" And a personal responsibility not a governmental responsibility.

Vent #5: Again, why is the government even in the birth control business?

Vent #6: Obama and the democrats are leaving behind the tenets of our Constitution to follow a progressive socialism. Socialism will destroy our free will, personal responsibility and freedom.

Vent #7: Want to help our schools. Get the federal government out of the education business. After 40+ years the federal government has proven it can't teach our children. Eliminate the Department of Education.

Vent #8: We idolize some and accept their faults until it's to late.

A Christian believes in God and in Christ even when she falls short of the grace offered. I am saddened that a person with such talent did not have the emotional support network that could have extended her life, and her career.
I wonder what new presentations could we have enjoyed from the many "candles" that were seemingly snuffed out prematurely?

    Chatmandu002,

You ask "Why is government even in the birth control business?" Why not ask a broader question? "Why is government even in the business of regulating and in providing healthcare like Medicaid and Medicare?" The answer is simple! "Because we mandated that it be!" And I like my VA healthcare!

    Dale,
Good question! Where in the Constitution does is mandate the federal government provide social security, medicare, medicaid? If we and not the Constitution, mandated the programs, then we can un-mandate the programs.

The love of progressive socialist programs is destroying this country. The love of all these programs can be passed along to your children and grand-children. Oh wait, I didn't mean love I meant DEBT.

And again, I ask the question why is the government in the birth control business?

Chatmandu: Check in Article 1, Section 8, Clause 1, which states that Congress has the power to levy taxes to provide for the Common defense and General Welfare of the United States. The general welfare clause actually greatly illustrates the various viewpoints regarding the Constitution. James Madison argued for a narrow interpretation of this clause (a modern Conservative viewpoint), while Alexander Hamilton argued for a broader interpretation (a modern Liberal viewpoint). In Helvering v. Davis, the Supreme Court ruled that the Social Security Act of 1935 was legal, since it provided for the general welfare of the citizens. In turn, many of the other programs that you mention also fall under this program. To answer your last question, it can be assumed that if the Supreme Court decides that ensuring access to birth control is within the principles of the general welfare clause, it will also be the government 's business.

Vent #4: Poor people don't use birth control because they know that having more babies increases the size of their welfare checks. Rich people use abortions as their method of birth control because it is inconvenient and annoying to pay the piper for sleeping around.
