Concern for the high unemployment rate is a concern felt mostly by the unemployed and their families. Actual empathy outside that demographic is a myth perpetrated by politicians in an effort to attract that vote. In reality, corporate America and the politicians they support have no problem with high unemployment. It means a larger available labor pool, lower payroll costs, less benefits and tighter control over existing employees living in fear of losing their jobs. Easier union busting is an additional bonus.

There are much public hand-wringing, posturing and promises of a better tomorrow from both sides of the aisle during the election season but, when it’s over, regardless of who wins, nothing much is going to happen.

We live in a brave new world of corporate greed and a disappearing middle class helplessly witnessing a massive transfer of wealth to the top. The demand for smaller government is code for larger, more powerful corporations overseeing the privatization of America.

Correction: The demand for smaller government is code for "stop the overthrow." You either are totally clueless regarding the premise upon which this country was built and upon which the middle class thrives, or you are among those who are intentionally overrunning our government with a new, totalitarian regime.

Brooke: Agreed, but I do believe the Democratic Party is more "for" all people than the Republican Majority Tyranny.

Leon: It's been two weeks, but you're still a Froot Loop. Thanks for remaining status quo.

Thoughts: Overthrow? My Aunt Fanny. What are YOU smokin'?

Especially since fewer unemployed people are actively looking for work, many of them thinking their prospects of finding a job are too bleak — all due to the past years of high unemployment.

Jobs numbers, unemployed workers, including discouraged workers, and persons who have settled for part time employment is evidence of President Obama's failure. A 2009 report by President Obama's economic advisers projected that the proposed stimulus would hold unemployment below 8 percent — and proposed to bring the jobless rate to 5.4 percent.

“Unemployment concern is wide spread” . . . With the 43 straight months of unemployment above 8 percent, unemployed Americans believe Obama has changed the economy for the worse.

    Brooke,
Let's take each of your points.
    1. Yes our unemployed, underemployed and their families are hurting. We all know why.
    2. Yes politicians do pander to the unemployed and give them more to get their votes.
    3. Corporates are greedy? If you mean that making a profit is greedy then yes corporates are greedy(want to make a profit).
    4. Corporations and politicians like to have large unemployment? No they don't, why you say. Because the unemployed don't have the up to date skills necessary for the jobs. Most of today's new jobs are lower skill service jobs. President Obama promised to lower unemployment rate with his first term and now he has to run on giving him 4 more years to bring the unemployment rate down. Promise broken.
    5. Unions have busted themselves by making their members uncompetitive.
    6. You are right, there has been no hope, no change, no transparency and no leadership.
    7. We do not live in a brave new world, we live in a terrifying world of big government domination, with social justice programs out of control, with entitlements taking us down the road to bankruptcy, with government taxes, rules and regulations strangulation of the free market, the increasing punishment of success and the ever increasing engorging of a progressive socialisation of our nation.
    8. The code word is "Constitutionally limited government".
    9. Another code word is "Fiscal responsibility".
    10. And yet another code word is "Free market enterprise".

I cannot agree with you on your comments that the democrats are for all the people. I have have been a registered democrat for over 52 years and in my humble opinion, the special interest minority groups have hijacked the party I signed on with in the 1950's.

Granted, the flat earth right wing religious zealots have done the same with the republican party. In the meantime, the moderates are stuck in the middle, including me as I tend to vote for the candidates who most closely reflect my views regardless of party. Truth be known, I should change my status to independent since I cannot stomach the pro amnesty platform.

With that being said, we currently have 23 million unemployed and under employed Americans. We also have 7 to 8 million illegals in the work force and another 1.76 million that Obama has essentially given amnesty to while we have so many legal Americans out of work. Just think, if Obama would issue an executive order mandating 100% E-Verify, and then actually start auditing employers, it would go a long way towards eliminating our unemployment problems. Hopefully, the unemployed folks and their voting family members will remember Obama selling them out come November.

samkat, Your right about both Democrats and Republican party's being hijacked by the extremist. We need a third party that is willing to meet in the middle for those of us in the middle. Fire them all and start over!
