Over and over we see our legislators get caught with their hand in the till.
Scandal after scandal but yet Arizona lawmakers refuse to pass legislation outlawing any gifts to legislators.
Grover Norquist has legislators on their knees begging to sign his pledges to not raise taxes. Perhaps we need something similar.
I’m just an average citizen with no political power, but I was thinking that perhaps someone like you who works for a newspaper could have some influence.
I’ve come up with the idea that every candidate for public office should have to submit a letter of resignation which would take effect if they failed to pass legislation outlawing gifts to office holders.
Of course, they could refuse to submit the letter which would result in much negative publicity for them.
Every survey says people want lobbiest’s gifts to office holders stopped.
Someone in the public eye, such as yourself, or the people you know at the paper could lead a drive to get candidates for office to submit such a resignation just like Norquist gets legislators to sign his no tax pledge.
Would you like to do Arizona a huge service and gain fame by running with the ball?

What will destroy the U.S. will not be outside forces, but will be our own U.S. politicians, on both sides of the aisle. They have us playing the blame game hoping we will not notice the overwhelming corruption they are involved in.

Agreed. So sorry to see so little response to this very good idea. Sadly, it seems so hopelessly impossible I can't speak to it either.
