“Paul Ryan told so many lies in his speech at the Republican National Convention, he’s going to make Richard Nixon eligible for Saint-hood. Mitt Romney cant tell the truth either. He’s telling Americans that they aren’t any better off than they were four years ago. Excuse me!? The American executives at AIG, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Exxon Mobil are much better off than they were four years ago thanks to President Obama, and the grueling hours put in by the GOP in congress. Who says they can’t work together?”

“GOP convention summary: Mitt Romney is so overwhelmingly bland. He was completely upstaged by Paul Ryan, whose speech was better. And among John McCain wanting this country involved in perpetual, high-dollar, boots-on-the-ground foreign wars, Clint Eastwood’s in-poor-taste comments, and Marco Rubio equating this nation to a theocracy, I’m not sure which was most scary.”

“I watched Clint Eastwood at the Republican National Convention. Now more than ever I realize how important it is to keep medicaid, medicare and social security in tact. Someday that could be me without the big bucks, talking to an empty chair waving a voucher trying to get medical attention instead of an applause.”

“Ryan has been in Washington all but one year since college. What does he know about creating jobs? Another career politician is not what we need. His talk was cheap mud slinging.”

“The Romneys and Ryans are such a bunch of classy people, they’ll make America proud again.”

“The writer to the vent on Aug. 31 who said, ‘Our Constitution states that there is a separation of church and state,’ obviously has never read the Constitution. That statement is not found in any part of our U.S. Constitution. I suggest that the writer read the Constitution and the writings of the founders, especially James Madison, the author of the Constitution.”

“I am a Female veteran, a refugee from Detroit, former non-union worker at a now closed Pontiac truck plant, and Piestewa Peak would be a ski lodge before I ever lined the pockets of the corrupt, sleazy, bullying, Chicago-mob style union bosses of the UAW.”

“As a loyal citizen, I don’t mind paying my far share of taxes. But the cost of social services, infrastructure and highways, is bringing ruin to the average taxpayer. It would be better for the federal government pay these expenses because they are bankrupting our state. Yea, that’s right, let the Uncle Sugar pay for them instead of taxpayers.”

Looks like the operators of this site are showing their anti-republican side with the first four vents. Hopefully they will show the same kindness to the democrats after their convention.

Vent #1: Wrong!!! No lies from Ryan or Romney, just the truth that the liberal can't except. The banks where bailed out before Obama took office and that bailout has almost been completely repaid with interest. And yes the republicans in congress have been working hard, it's the democratic senate that hasn't done anything but sit on their behinds. I forgot to mention the No Leadership from our Campaigner-in-Chief.

Vent #2: I'll gladly take someone with integrity and honesty over a slick talking empty suit. You know the empty suit that was sitting next to Clint Eastwood at the convention.

Vent #3: Republicans do have a plan to save these entitlement programs, it's the democrats that are afraid to touch any kind of entitlement reform.

Vent #4: Ryan has been in public service since leaving school, much the same as Obama. Mitt is the person of true experience in both private and public service.

Vent #5: You're right, much more class from Mitt and Paul.

Vent #6: Congress shall make no official religion. Doesn't say anything about the government being anti-religion.

Vent #7: I hear you, but our/your tax dollars did go to GM (Government Motors) and specifically to help the UAW, it's the democratic party way of doing business.

Vent #8: It would be nice if Uncle Sam paid for all that stuff. Oh wait, WE are Uncle Sam and Uncle Sam is borrowing 40 cents on every dollar he spends. Stop the deficit spending Uncle Sam. Stop!!!!

chatman- I read all the vents above and was going to responed, but then I read your comments and decided I would be duplicating what you said. Good job chatman.

Can you believe the last vent, this person thinks that the Government is different from taxpayers.

Must be a graduate of a liberal institution.

Yep, the 8th venter is an example of Tea Party ignorance.
I wonder where the 8th venter believes ( I started to type " thinks " but realized that the 8th venter is TOTALLY unacquainted with that process ) the Federal Government is going to get the money to pay for these things.

Come on willie even you know that it is always the LIBERALS that want government to to do and pay for everything not the TEA PARTY. If you have paid any attention at all to the TEA PARTY you would now they are for smaller government and less spending.

    Nice try.

Yes, smartvoter, Liberals want government to provide for the common welfare. That is, we want government to organize social programs for the less well off.We want programs that house the homeless and care for the sick and injured and mentally ill.
There are quite a few programs that Liberals want from government.
But we don't act like 2 year olds whos big sister stole their ice cream cone, and lay on the floor and kick and scream, because we have to pay taxes to support the American way of life.

Democrats ( Liberals ) believe in Pay as You go.
Republicans believe in Borrow and Spend and refuse to pay the bills.

Vent #1 - I watched that speech. He never once lied; unless you name one, and back it up with actual evidence, I suggest you shut up. It’s not like Obama hasn’t over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and . . . (add about a trillion “and overs” here)

Vent #2 – I’ll tell you what’s more scary: Another four years of Obama.

Vent #3 – The guy was actually funny, unlike Bill Maher, who used the “c” word and “t” word to described Gov. Palin.

Vent #4 – You think Ryan hasn’t created a single job? Has Obama is four years? No, he hasn’t.

Vent #5 – They make me proud. That makes at least two of us.

Vent #6 - The First Amendment has been twisted and distorted so many times by the liberal left, it’s scary.

Vent #7 - Good for you to escape that hell-hole, Detroit.

    Mr. C:

Are you really unaware of the factual decption in Ryan's speech, or is this all a game to you? Every news source, even Fox, is reporting it.

Name one lie. And then prove it. Otherwise, quit attacking Paul Ryan and others. You cannot honestly say that Obama has never lied since he began running in 2007.

Wow! Mr. C. Are you really that far gone that you only hear your party’s talking points and you refuse to see what is so obviously in front of you? Here are the most glaring lies from his speech:

    1. “A downgraded America.” Ryan argued it was the president’s fault for the nation’s credit downgrade in August 2011. But the ratings agency expressly stated it was downgraded because “Republicans refused to accept any tax increases as part of a larger deal.” That is the ratings agency speaking, not some democrat.

    2. “More debt than any other president before him, and more than all the troubled governments of Europe combined.” But, it is untrue. When Obama took office, the national debt was $10.626 trillion. It has increased to slightly above $15 trillion. This figure is not what Ryan claimed.

    3. Shuttered General Motors plant is “one more broken promise.” Ryan described a GM plant that closed down in his hometown, Janesville, Wisconsin, and blamed Obama for breaking his promise to keep the plant open when he visited during his campaign. But Obama never made that promise, and the plant shut down in December 2008, before Obama even took office.

    4. Obama “did exactly nothing” on Bowles-Simpson. Ryan said, “He created a bipartisan debt commission. They came back with an urgent report. He thanked them, sent them on their way, and then did exactly nothing.” In fact, Ryan was instrumental in sabotaging the commission, leading the other House Republicans in voting against the plan.

    5. “$716 billion, funneled out of Medicare by President Obama.” Ryan’s favorite lie is a deliberate distortion of Obamacare’s savings from eliminating inefficiencies. Furthermore, Ryan’s own plan for Medicare includes these savings. Romney has vowed to restore these cuts, which would render the trust fund insolvent 8 years ahead of schedule.

    6. “The greatest of all responsibilities is that of the strong to protect the weak.” Ryan closed the speech with an invocation of social responsibility, saying, “The truest measure of any society is how it treats those who cannot defend or care for themselves.” However, numerous clergy members have condemned Ryan’s budget plan as “cruel,” and “an immoral disaster” because of its devastating cuts in social programs the poor and sick rely on. Meanwhile, Ryan would give ultra-rich individuals and corporations $3 trillion in tax breaks.

And, NO, I am not going to take the bait and go OFF-TOPIC with you to discuss Obama. We can do that after we finish the discussion about Ryan.

Mr. C., part of the problem is that the Republican party uses distraction and deciet as campaign tactics. This is a failed approach because it ignores the fact that everything said or done is recorded. There is no defending Ryan's speech. It was dishonest to the core.

Centrist, which is very much a faux name for you,

    1. Ryan was right, downgrade came on Obama watch. Don't forget you blamed Bush for everything that happened on his watch.
    2. It's true, more debt than any president and it's now 16 trillion dollars.
    3. Candidate Obama promised to keep that plant open for the next hundred years.
    4. Obama did not do anything about the Simpson-Bowles study. Ryan was correct again.
    5. Obama's plan does cut 716 billion from Medicare payments to doctors and hospitals. Isn't the purpose of Medicare to make the payments for treatment.
    6. The massive amounts of budget deficits must be brought under control. The best way is to cuts taxes, reduce welfare, entitlement reforms and let the free market do it's thing, make money and jobs. Not more government control with higher deficit spending and higher taxes. We've tried that and it's not working. A bankrupt country can't help anyone.

Republicans are the ones trying to talk about the economy, jobs and reforms, it's the democrats that want to talk about punishing successful people and more government control. Obama is ruling the nation like a king, as a matter of fact the democratic party platform for the DNC mentions president Obama almost 200 times (you talk about a demigod). He keeps passing proclamations which pander to his base groups. The democrat controlled senate hasn't passed a budget in 3 years.

    Centrist,
It must be getting harder to carry all the liberal/progressive coolaid for Obama and the democrats.

    "Name one lie."

A word of warning when dealing with mrconservative - I've caught him in no less than a dozen lies over the last 2 months (just check his comment history), and he refuses to address them or even admit he made them. Yet the comments containing the lies remain on the forum board.

Heck, he actually claimed to have scientific evidence of spirirts! That was weeks ago, still waiting for the evidence.

To the venter who suggested that separation of church and state is not in the First Amendment - read it again, slowly this time.

Oh, and as to your suggestion "I suggest that the writer read the Constitution and the writings of the founders, especially James Madison, the author of the Constitution.”

Yes, let's read what James Madison had to say about this very issue:

"The number, the industry, and the morality of the priesthood, and the devotion of the people have been manifestly increased by the total separation of the church from the state." - James Madison, 1819

Was that the point you were trying to make? ;)

"...to anyone paying the slightest bit of attention to facts, Ryan’s speech was an apparent attempt to set the world record for the greatest number of blatant lies and misrepresentations slipped into a single political speech."

Please note the source before making the usual "it's a liberal media attack!" response, thank you.

DON'T GIVE SOME STUPID WEBSITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GIVE IT TO ME HERE ON THIS PAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND I DON'T WANT AN ANSWER FROM YOU, ENRAGED VOTER. I WOULDN'T TRUST HIM TO BE MY CITY'S DOG CATCHER!!!!

AND THAT QUOTE BY MADISON IS NOT IN THE CONSTITUTION.

"CONGRESS SHALL MAKE NO LAW RESPECTING AN ESTABLISHMENT OF RELIGION, OR PROHIBITING THE FREE EXCERSISE THEREOF."

TELL ME, MR. ENREAGED, WHERE DOES IT SAY "SEPERATION OF CHURCH AND STATE"? IT'S NOT IN THERE!

AND CENTRIST, YOU STILL HAVE YET TO CONVINCE ME. OBAMA DID SAY THAT THAT PLANT WOULD STAY OPEN FOR THE NEXT CENTURY. I HEARD HIM SAY IT WITH HIS OWN MOUTH!

AND ENRAGED, UNLIKE YOU, I HAVEN'T LIED. NOT ONCE. I STILL DEFEND MY KNOWLEDGE THAT GOD EXISTS. AND NO BRAINLESS GIT LIKE YOURSELF IS EVER GOING TO PROVE OTHERWISE.

YOU ARE NEVER GOING TO BE CONVINCED THAT I SPEAK THE TRUTH. THAT MIGHT TAKE THE APOCOLYPSE. I SUGGEST YOU GET A FOOD STORAGE IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY.

    YOU'RE GONNA NEED IT.

I DON'T NEED TO COUNTER ANY MORE OF CENTRISTS CLAIMS. IT LOOKS LIKE CHAT HAS DONE IT FOR ME.

    Chatman:

It is unbelievable to me how you just simply to each point I made ("X") and then simply stated..."Not X." That is not a valid attack on any point I made. Perhaps we should simply resort to "nanny, nanny, bo, bo."

    1) Don't tell me I blamed bush for anything. You don't know me. You don't know what I did (or did not) do or say during the bush era. Don't overgenralize. Also, don't suggest I am not a centrist merely because you don't agree with me.

    2) You totally missed the point about Ryan's speech. Are you missing it on purpose. He did not merely reference the time of the downgrade (on Obama's watch) but rather he said it was on account of Obama's policies when, in truth and fact, it was on account of the Republicans in congress. Your response is spurious at best.

    3) As to the remaining points, you have been so self-servingly conclusory. Let's try them one at a time if you are willing. While the debt is at 16 trillion, how much of that was on Obama's watch? Let's start there and see if you get that answer right before moving on.

    4) No, I don't carry cool aid. All I do is look for inaccuracies and point them out. Not my fault if the Republicans make it a habit to misinform.

    Mr. C:

Even your own guy (Ryan) is backpeddling on the GM plant issue. Here is an article about his mea culpa:

Vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan is backtracking on a claim he made during his Republican National Convention speech last week that essentially blamed President Obama for a GM plant closure that happened under former President George W. Bush. It was just one of a handful of falsehoods Ryan told during the speech.

Now, Ryan says he used the anecdote to show how Obama didn’t keep his 2008 campaign promises.

Here’s what Ryan told NBC’s “Today” on Tuesday morning: “What they are trying to suggest is that I said Barack Obama was responsible for the plant shutdown in Janesville. That is not what I was saying; read the speech. What I was saying is the president ought to be held to account for his broken promises. After the plant was shut down he said he would lead efforts to restore the plant. It’s still idle.”

Yet, once again, Ryan’s got it wrong. Obama did not promise that he would keep the plant open if elected, and in fact, that’s plainly stated in the quote Ryan used in his speech.

Here’s what Ryan said: “Right there at that plant, candidate Obama said: ‘I believe that if our government is there to support you ... this plant will be here for another hundred years.’ That’s what he said in 2008. Well, as it turned out, that plant didn’t last another year. It is locked up and empty to this day. And that’s how it is in so many towns today, where the recovery that was promised is nowhere in sight.”

In the statement, Obama clearly said the plant could stay open with government help. That’s obviously not the same thing as promising he would keep the plant open if he was elected president. The GM plant in Janesville, Wis., subsequently shut down at the end of December 2008, after Obama was elected but before he took office.

Mr. C: Please stop and research things before you post them.

Wow...it looks like someone is upset at having their lies exposed for all to see.

    " I HAVEN'T LIED. NOT ONCE"
    No, not once...MANY times:

"I have scientific proof that spirits exist"
"The Bible says nothing about zombies...or that the earth rests on pillars...or that the earth doesn't move"
"You've never been in our temples, EV."
"You hate everything to do with happiness, love, peace and liberty."
"You can't prove anything that you have claimed. I can."
"The Book of Mormon is true. I KNOW it."
"The sun, the moon, the stars, and the earth – plus, everything on it – is proof that God lives."
"Doubt me if you want, but sooner or later you will accept the truth."

And that's just a sample, there are plenty more!

Not to mention the outright insane bleatings:
"It just so happens I have the Holy Ghost! He has borne witness to me"
    Cuckoo! Cuckoo!

Kindly take your ignorance, your bigotry, your hate, your lies, your phoney conman prophet, your superstitious threats, and your silly Bronze Age sky fairy and shove them all where the sun doesn't shine. Thanks so much.

(At least "StrongChristian" had the sense to run away once his lies were exposed)

No one said that it was. Learn to read, will ya?

And while you brush up on your reading comprehension, could you possibly learn not to have a childlike temper tantrum on a public forum? It makes you appear uneducated, lacking in intellect, and extremely nasty and rude.
