Seems everybody 'wants' something. So Tina here's what I want. Can you find me a candidate who will just take my money and promise to just leave me alone? Both the Dems and the GOP are, one way or another, spinning mandatory insurance into 'healthcare' can you find me a candidate that just lets me pay my doctor? Can you find a candidate who will promise that government will be so unintrusive that the only government official's name I positively know is the President? What is obvious is that the government can't do much of anything right. Can't do this, can't do that, can you find me a candidate who can just say, if you want it done, do it, now go away, oh, and no, we're not paying for it? Everybody is trying to be my mommy, don't need one, thanks all the same. In short, I shouldn't have to care whether you are right or wrong. The thing is enough people do that we all get the shaft.

A stream of ominous events in the Persian Gulf have pushed oil prices to more than $105 a barrel (a nine-month high) and prices at the pump to a record level last weekend. Well over $4 a gallon in parts of California.
Forecasters at GasBuddy.com predict the price may be on its way to $5 a gallon in the U.S. by Memorial Day weekend. While President Obama scuttled the 700,000-barrels-a-day Keystone XL oil pipeline - that American workers wanted.

Most Americans want illegal immigration enforced. The opponents have filed lawsuits against SB1070, protest Sheriff Joe, fly the mexican flag at all their parades and rallies and stand up and shout at public meetings.
Strategies to enforce immigration law are building momentum across the country because most americans want the 12 million illegals deported.

Wow, how do you argue with that obviously unbiased approach. Let me try. Maybe Senator DeMint is just reflecting what the American people overwhelmingly said when they were trying to push Obabmacare down are throats- "we don't want it". I don't think that matters for the sake of her argument above. It is more a rhetorical argument as if Obamacare was a good idea that republicans would be evil if they opposed it. Now it makes perfect sense.

How do you destruct the other side Tina when you have all but one major news agency as a mouthpiece and promoter of your policies?

Healthcare, indeed Obamacare is a Waterloo, but before the battle, not after. Napoleon actually had the battle won, as in the GOP beats the Dems or vice-versa. Then a bunch of Prussians who got as lost as the Frenchmen chasing them showed up. This isn't cut and dried, nor is it hard to figure. It will be decided by who got lost and where they show up. Who is more lost? And no, IGWT it isn't psychobabble, it's histiobabble, mostly I do philosophicalbabble. But then you probably don't understand the difference.

Chatmandu,
You are not completely correct; Jim DeMint is on the Senate tea party Caucus. He does speak for the tea party in Washington D.C..
Also Chatman, I believe that congress just passed an extension on middle-class payroll tax cut. Is that called "dependence"? NO. Is this cut in payroll tax good for the economy as we recover from a prolonged and severe recession? Yes. Does it contribute to the fact that fewer Americans pay no fed. income tax? Yes, and it is temporary.

President Barack Obama and the Liberal media may think he has some “super-secret decoder ring” plan for the re-election. But, Obama has intractable problems:
• U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments over President Obama's Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (called “ObamaCare”) before the 2012 Election Day. Even with Justice Elena Kagan's 'conflict of interest' because of her work in the White House, allegedly on behalf of ObamaCare, Obama’s re-election is doomed, if ObamaCare gets ruled unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court.”
• President Barack Obama major mistake in handling the contraceptive mandate to faith based institutions, particularly the Catholic Church. He has modified his unconstitutional attempt to provide free birth control to women, and the situation has now gone from bad to worse in a way that has little to do with birth control or religion.
A new Rasmussen poll shows “Catholics” disapprove of Obama’s job performance at a 59% rate. And if 59% overall (of 70 million Catholics in America) disapprove of Obama the percentage of real Catholics who voted 54/44 for Republicans in 2010 will swells to 70% resulting in more than enough votes to offset Obama’s minority support Election Day.
• Rising gas prices will be severe this year. Already, average pump prices have topped $3.50 a gallon, leading some experts to think they could reach an all-time high of $5 by the summer.
Europe has clamped down on buying crude from Iran as a way too late reaction to her nuclear weapons program. And the Muslim Brotherhood (which now controls Egypt and much of the oil producing North African Muslim countries) will extort higher oil prices from the feckless Europeans who will look to the U.S. for cheaper gasoline.
• And Obama scuttled the 700,000-barrels-a-day Keystone XL pipeline, despite approval by the State Department after a three-year review.

Cerulean, DeMint does not speak for the Tea Party and you know only of the Tea Party from the liberal/progressive talking points you ingest.
The Tea Party has 3 core values. Fiscal responsibility, Constitutionally limited government and free market enterprise. And what most Tea Party members would say about illegal immigration is that the government should enforce the laws that are already on the books.
As for the working citizen and the middle class. Obama and the democrats are combining the poor and middle class to form the "Dependent" class. Dependent on the largeness and philanthropy of a big government. Now that 47% pay no federal income tax they can vote themselves more and more.

I agree with Sen DeMint, Look where decades of compromise has gotten us. How much more compromising can this country take. We have left the tenets of our Constitution behind to follow a progressive slide into socialism. Socialism will destroy our free will, personal responsibility and freedom.
How many times do you hear pundits say "the taxpayer shouldn't stand for that", just remember that only 53% of us are taxpayers. I remember when the "payroll tax" was called FICA, payments to social security. Now it's a tax cut which is underfunding Socials Security. I hope you are not planning on living off of Social Security when you retire.

Its time for the moderates and the Independents to kick the extremists of both parties out to pasture and return some sanity to the political process.

Since Woodrow Wilson we have been 'compromising' our way to where we are today, European Socialism Lite, instead of a small, weak Central Government Republic as intended.
When your starting point is a Government plainly spelled out by the Framers, and your opponent's goal is the total dismantling of that framework, there is no room for compromise. Over the last 100 years not enough politicians have realized this. They are too comfortable with power and 'compromise.'
And yes, I know, this is STILL all Bush's fault.

Jim DeMint is also a leading member of the tea party movement. Tea party members like to SAY that they are against ‘illegal immigration’. The truth is that Know-Nothing tea party candidates like Jim DeMint, are at war with *middle-class citizen workers*. We know this because several tea party members here in Arizona as well as Jim DeMint receive funding from organizations like ‘Club for Growth’. One of the prime motives of Club for Growth is to “destroy labor unions”. This is a direct attack on U.s citizens and our right to organize for better labor conditions.
I am against illegal immigration because it lowers the cost of labor and limits the ability of some U.S. citizens to find work. I have yet to see any meaningful legislation from the Republican Party that puts stronger enforcement requirements on the businesses who hire illegal immigrants. On the other hand, Arizona legislators are considering four anti-labor bills this session – I will wager that they will all pass.
Just as you have so eloquently outlined in your column, Tina Dupuy, DeMint is at war with the other side; and so too is Arizona’s own Republican dominated legislature – they are at war with working citizens.
