"Dog owners know their dogs best" may be true, but they are usually an ignorant bunch when it comes to knowing other dogs. Not all dogs get along - and the owner of a loose dog may call out "it's alright - he's friendly", that doesn't mean that my dog will get along with yours. And when that happens - I have seen it many times - a fight ensues, pets get hurt, people get hurt. This is one of the more stupid laws you people have proposed, and you legislators never seem to think a problem through before proposing another stupid law .

At least as much freedom as the cat owners . . . Homeowners associations do not do any unnecessary nit-picking over the cats that roam free and "WANDER" in the neighborhoods.

It's never responsible to have your dog off leash. I have neighbors who can't walk their dogs in the neighborhood because some dog owners routinely allow their dogs to "play in the front yard" off leash.

I also personally witnessed a dog hit by a car when it darted across the street after a cat.

Loony libertarianism again, which fails to balance competing rights (my right to walk my dog on public sidewalks, or to drive my vehicle without the trauma of running over a dog whose owner "knows best.").

"Too many times legislation is passed that inserts the government in yet another facet of our daily life" I assume Miss Pink Pistol Packer that this means you will keep your big fat government out of my local control and allow bargaining of public employees if those cities so choose? Bwahahahahah! How about keeping your greedy pig hands off of my uterus? Bwahahahaha. Go take an ALEC injection and call me in the morning. In the meantime, keep your animal on a leash!

She "respect(s) their individual right to do what is best?" She ought to come to my front yard where dogs on leashes climb on top of my low-lying broomstick bush to do #2. I'm sure the dog doesn't know to relieve himself up there. The owner leads him to the top of my plant because they think it is funny and disrespectful to leave their excrement as a topping. Pick up your own dog's excrement!

Sen. Lori Klein is the state senator who last year pointed her loaded pistol at a reporter and lit him up with her laser sight. Her excuse was she didn't mean to. Someone needs to put a leash and muzzle on her and take away her pistol.

What I find offensive is a government with enough power and chutzpah to even be discussing what I do with my dog. Wanna come in and check that my TP is hung correctly?

My neighbor two doors down was playing "fetch" with his big dog on the street where we live. Obviously, the man didn't see me driving down the street when he tossed the ball yet again. The dog gave chase, of course. I was FORCED TO STOP because of his behavior and because I didn't expect a ball to come bouncing down the road. The only thing I had time for was to hit the brake HARD! Lucky for him, when the ball hit, it did no damage. And because I saw the ball coming, and NOT THE DOG until it darted out from between two parked cars, the dog was save from any impact. It's a lucky thing I did see the ball, otherwise I know the dog would have been hit.

The same neighbor (I found out during the same incident), allows his small dog to roam free throughout the neighborhood. Seems he like to do his business on my front lawn. From now on, I'll be returning it to the rightful owner, since I now know whom owns the dog. I can't wait until he asks me why I'm putting dog poo on his front porch.

I own two dogs myself, and I don't allow the to run around like that. So NO, so owners DO NOT KNOW BETTER.

This bill is stupid and this lady is an idiot. My kids faces and lives are worth more than 50k. Most dog attacks happen when dogs are unleashed and the owner always says their dog is nice and has never attacked before. Responsible dog owners put their dogs on a leash while out in public.

Actually what has become a nuisance is the stench of dog poo everywhere while out for my walk...or taking my kids to the park. As far as unnessecary nitpicking my HOA's....send me a notice because my car is parked in the street...or a weed it too high..or my trash can is out on the curb for a day too long. NOT nitpicking is having dogs and cats poo in my yard when I do not even own a pet. Not nitpicking is listening to my neighbors dogs half the night bark. Dogs to not belong unleashed at parks for there are many small kids who could be knocked down or bit by an unleashed dog. Sorry I don't want your 50k. I want a relaxing night after work at the park with my kids where they can play safe.
