“Groundbreaking for what, a new Cubs spring training stadium in the middle of nowhere? What happened to the bill of goods that was sold to the Mesa voters with that slick artist’s rendition of Wrigleyville-West and Riverview Park? The whole reason for the $100 million bond obligation was for a ‘world-class venue’....not this field of dreams. The restaurants, trendy shops, the soccer fields, the baseball practice fields, the Riverview Lake Walk and picnic areas that now look to be five to 10 years down the road, pipe-dreams. Thanks for nothing but a $100 million debt.”
“Obama is criticizing the Romneys for taking a well deserved vacation. Obama is waxing poetic about his one-month vacations on buses and staying at Howard Johnson’s. I wonder if the Obamas stayed at HoJo’s for their vacation last year in the Hamptons. People in glass (White) houses shouldn’t throw stones.”
“Tax the oil companies more? I wonder where they get the money to pay their taxes. I wonder where my barber gets the money to pay his taxes. We all pay the taxes for all businesses.”
“Murders are up 38 percent in Chicago so far this year. How’s that total gun control thing working for you Rahm? Turns out it’s a stupid plan put together by a stupid man. Most of the rest of U.S. is enjoying a decrease in the murder rate as gun controls have been relaxed. The old adage is ‘When gun ownership becomes criminal, only criminals will own guns’. Innocents are left unprotected. In Chicago it is also illegal to bring a knife to a gunfight.”
“So now the anti-mandate, birther, corporate superpacking, right wing voter vigilantes are saying only states can mandate insurance. What a relief. As long as I drive my car on federal highways or parks I don’t need auto insurance.”
“AIG (American International Group), insurance giant saved by the massive federal bailout, wants $30.2 million from the government for interest the company says it is owed from an overpayment of taxes 21 years ago. AIG has filed a lawsuit in Federal Claims Court in Washington to try to get the money even though AIG still owes about $17.5 billion to the government from the bailout. Unbelievable!”
“Instead of bickering over all of these voter fraud laws President Obama should show some leadership and fight voter fraud. In the interest of national security issue a photo ID social security card to all citizens free of charge. That should satisfy Republicans in all states unless they are motivated by other factors, then they would call it an entitlement program.”

So Chat, are we all being 'punished' when we pay our taxes?
I choose to perceive my taxes as my fair share contribution toward the structure of this great nation. Most, if not all of us would not have the lifestyle we do were it not for the opportunity US democracy provides us.
Therefore, the more I earn, the more I pay. In other words, the greater my benefit from living/working/doing business here the more I should give back to what made those benefits possible.
So when it comes to the oil companies - Why should America/Americans provide billions in subsidies to oil companies, as we have for decades, enabling them to earn blockbuster profits and lavish treasures upon their executives even in a struggling economy - and EXPECT NOTHING IN RETURN?
Is this what is meant by an 'entitlement attitude'?

Vent #1: To bad this new facility isn't coming across as advertised. Hope Mesa can get it all worked out.
Vent #2: More campaign rhetoric from our Campaign-in-Chief.
Vent #3: When will the democrats learn that nothing good comes from punishing business.
Vent #4: It's not about guns, it's about the failure of the family structure due to the insidious nature of the welfare system.
Vent #5: We can only hope that Obama and the democrats don't decide to make auto insurance another mandated tax to drive on the interstate highway system. I wouldn't put past them. Tax and spend is their mantra.
Vent #6: Let AIG get it's tax refund then apply it to what they own from the bailout.
Vent #7: Voting is a right, privilege, and responsibility of citizenship so why the angst at having proper ID?

Venter # 2: Romeny has some serious credibility problems.
To start he says he will release more years of tax returns after " they are prepared ". Duh ... supposedly the returns were prepard and filed during the last 12 years.
What " preparation " is necessary?
Unless " preparation " means " laundering / whitewashing / fabricating ".
He SHOULD NOT RELEASE HIS OWN RETURNS.
They should be released by the IRS.
The actual returns he filed / not some made up propaganda. He can release any made up tax returns he wants. Anyone can download the forms and fill in any figures they want and they show them.
ONLY TAX RETURNS RELEASED BY THE IRS CAN BE TRUSTED.
