BRICK to CBS News, which Wednesday tut-tutted the Internet commentators called "bloggers" for "writing in the Wild West of cyberspace." CBS fretted that while bloggers enjoy the same First Amendment protections as newspapers, "There remains no code of ethics, or even an employer, to enforce any standard."
Oh? And would that be the ethical standard to which CBS held when it aired a September hit piece on President Bush based on documents the network was later forced — by revelations that first appeared on blogs — to admit were fraudulent? In that instance, bloggers rode out of the "Wild West of cyberspace" to act as sheriffs against CBS’s banditry of the truth.
BOUQUET to the Wall Street Journal’s James Taranto for pointing out the foregoing.
