I love the idea of the Fair tax, but would settle for a flat tax. To bad niether of them would ever come true. The super committee and the rest of congress have just gotten together to play a game of kick the can.

Instead of the 53%ers paying all the taxes, why don't the 99%ers start paying their fair share of the taxes. Pass the Fair Tax. Check it out at fairtax.org.

Jeff,
One person's waste is another person's treasure. And where entitlements might be a problem, so is defense spending. Perhaps you were too young to remember words from Eisenhower's final state of the union speach. "Beware of the Military-Industrial complex!" Address that piece of 50 year old sage advice, if you will!
I have yet to see anything productive Jeff Flake has done for his constituents. If he wants to cut entitlements, he could start by proposing that Congress reduce their salaries. Then he could push for them to do away with their lavish retirement package and perks. Regular federal employees do not enjoy such entitlements. He could also propose that they must turn over any campaign funds left over to the U.S. treasury. Weiner left office with over 4 million dollars that he did not have to account for. Flake probably has as much put away in his war chest.
Republican US Senate Candidate and current US Congressman Jeff Flake always forgets to mention ..........ILLEGAL ALIEN AMNESTY.
Now why is that ?....could it because Congressman Jeff Flake was the co-sponsor of the ....S.T.R.I.V.E. ACT in Congress a few years ago. His co-sponsor wasn't another Republican........it was the most Liberal-Left Democrat member of Congress from President Obama's South-Chicago.
Folks, you need to go into ....Yahoo "search" and enter...."S.T.R.I.V.E. ACT"...and read all about it...yourselves. (be sitting down when you do......just in case reading about the ...S.T.R.I.V.E. ACT....raises your blood pressure to a dangerous levels).
Jeff Flake's.."S.T.R.I.V.E. ACT"......is even more of an ...Illegal Alien Amnesty "Give-Away"............than the ..........Utah Compact that is being pushed by opponents in the Senator Pearce Recall Elections.
Mexico would be forced to build a 10-Lane Freeway from Mexico City to Phoenix just to accomodate all the.... "NORTHBOUND TRAFFIC".
It's a good thing the paper put the qualifier " much " in it's last statement that he " represents much of the East Valley " because he most certainly does not represent my household.
He talks about wasteful spending but only about government wasteful spending. How about insurance company wasteful spending that takes dollars away from benefits?
Insurance companies advertise on tv constantly which takes billions of dollars away from actually being paid out in benefits.
They will send a representative to your home to try to convince you to sign up with them.
More wasteful spending.
MEDICARE DOES NONE OF THOSE THINGS AND THE MONEY GOES TO PATIENT BENEFITS.
But he will tell you private insurance is better.
YEAH FOR THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND STOCKHOLDERS AND EXECUTIVES --- but not for the customers.
When you sign up for medical insurance ( especially Medicare replacement policies ) you are paying for that advertising and the salary of the person who came to your home to sign you up and his commission. All of that money is taken directly from funds available to pay benefits.
Not to mention that the company has to also take profits out of the money for paying benefits and the million dollar executive salaries.
And again MEDICARE DOES NONE OF THAT.
Medicare pays approx 92% of premiums out in benefits. Private insurance pays approx 70%.
