A Mesa boy is expected to survive being shot in the chest with a BB gun, police said Thursday. However, the BB is lodged in the lung of 9-year-old Noah Galindo, and will remain there in lieu of operating, according to police.
Noah was critically wounded on Wednesday afternoon when he was shot in the upper chest by his 7-year-old brother.
According to police, the two were playing inside their apartment at 118 N. Extension Road when the younger boy found a rifle-style BB gun, pointed it at his brother and pulled the trigger.
The boys' parents were not home at the time, and they were being watched by their 14-year-old sister. No criminal charges are being sought against the younger brother or the parents, police said.
