Tanna’s a sweet dog with one little quirk: She likes homebodies.

UPDATE: Tanna has been adopted by a family who saw her story in the Tribune.

Tanna's a sweet dog with one little quirk: She likes homebodies.

The Labrador-Shar Pei mix was recently given up by her longtime family because they were on the go too much for Tanna's taste. When her people run off to work and school, leaving the house empty for hours on end, Tanna gets downright blue, anxious and maybe even a little scared.

For that reason, rescuers are hoping that a person who stays home most of the day will take a shining to Tanna.

There's a lot to like. At 9 years old, she often acts like a playful 3-year-old. She loves to chase a ball, go on walks and splash in water. But her maturity kicks in when it counts: Tanna is housetrained and has nice manners, and she's good with other dogs, cats and children.

After many years at home with her old family, Tanna is having a hard time adjusting to life in an animal shelter. Rescuers are hoping to get her placed quickly so she can get back to feeling comfortable and happy.

Tanna has been spayed and microchipped, and she's up to date on vaccinations. If you'd like to meet Tanna or have questions about adopting her, contact Friends for Life Animal Sanctuary and Rescue at (480) 497-8296 or www.azfriends.org.
