A Mountain View High School senior from Mesa has been named Arizona's Junior Miss of 2008.
Hannah Marsh will now travel to Mobile, Ala., to participate in the 51st annual America's Junior Miss finals. She will compete June 26-28 against finalists from 49 other states for the chance to win more than $150,000 in cash scholarships.
Arizona Junior Miss Spokeswoman Kim Rodgers said a finalist from Arizona has not won the national competition since 1970. But she thinks Marsh will do well this year.
Marsh competed against 24 other high school seniors from Arizona whose combined grade point average was a 4.19, Rodgers said.
"She is not a winner out of a bunch of representatives, but a representative of a bunch of winners," Rodgers said.
Marsh won $3,900 in cash scholarships and a medallion to symbolize her achievements in the classroom and extracurricular activities. She plans on attending Brigham Young University in the fall.
"I don't like the phrase the complete package, but Hannah is. She is a extremely driven person who is well rounded, and humble. Everyone would want her to be their daughter," said Rodgers.
