Police plan to submit a case to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office recommending charges against a Chandler couple accused of dealing in stolen items from retail stores.

Francisco Chay, 50, and his wife, Rocio Cazeres, 41, were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of trafficking in stolen property after detectives concluded a three-week undercover investigation, according to Chandler police.

Investigators received information that the couple was purchasing stolen items including hygiene products and personal items from other shoplifting suspects and then selling the items from their mobile home on West Fairview Street, police said.

Safeway Corporation assisted Chandler police by providing items to the undercover detectives, who sold Chay and Cazeres about $3,000 worth of items and bought some of them back before executing a search warrant in the couple’s home.
