The public is invited Sunday evening to attend a memorial service honoring the life of Bandit, a Belgian Malinois police K-9 who died Aug. 11 when he was unintentionally left in the car by his trainer.

The 6:30 p.m. ceremony will honor the dog’s four years of service for Chandler Police Department. It will be held at Shawnee Park, 1400 W. Mesquite in Chandler, which is north of Warner Road between Alma School and Dobson roads.

The memorial is not organized by police.
