It’s an array of football openings of biblical proportion.

Chandler Perry High hires Preston Jones, begetting an opening at Gilbert Highland. Gilbert Williams Field hires Steve Campbell, begetting an opening at Tempe McClintock. Scottsdale Chaparral coach Ron Estabrook retires, begetting an opening at Chaparral. Mesa High coach Dennis Parker opts to relocate to Texas for a college job, begetting an opening at Mesa for the second time in four years.

These are pretty good jobs up for grabs. Highland, McClintock, Chaparral and Mesa all qualified for the playoffs last year and Highland, McClintock and Chaparral are working on at least three-year streaks of qualifying. New is attractive to build from scratch. But these openings are all pretty good ones to shoot for if you’re a coach with some experience where winning is more a habit than a rarity.
