Drivers are getting a break over the Labor Day weekend. The Arizona Department of Transportation has announced that no construction closures are planned. That goes for Friday afternoon when many drivers are getting away for the long holiday weekend.

Drivers are asked to be aware of existing project work zones around the state, including those for an I-10 widening project west of Phoenix and I-17 expansion projects north of Phoenix.

Another I-10 work zone also is in place between Phoenix and Tucson in the Picacho Peak region.

Meanwhile, drivers planning to drive to and from Las Vegas should allow extra travel time due to traditionally heavy traffic at Hoover Dam.
