Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies braved snow flurries, rain and freezing temperatures Monday to rescue four hikers stranded in the Upper Sycamore Creek area near Sunflower.
Authorities received the emergency call around 6:30 p.m. that four hikers were stranded. Two of the hikers managed to set out and inform a passing deputy of the situation; the other two were believed to be taking shelter of some sort, possibly a cave, authorities said.
There were no reported injuries. Authorities were able to locate the last two hikers around 8:30 p.m. near a cave close to the Bee Line Highway, authorities said. The ages and names of the hikers were not released by authorities.
