Police have found shell casing related to a shooting in Gilbert that injured a motorist and his passenger last Saturday, but need the public's help in finding who was responsible for the crime.
Eduardo Vincent Chacon, 19, of Phoenix, was driving with Samantha Marie Arguello, 18, northbound on McQueen Road near Baseline Road about 4:30 a.m., when a nearby motorist shot into his car, hitting him twice in the face. The shooter fled.
Chacon was treated and released for his injuries at Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn. Arguello suffered cuts from the broken glass of the car windows but was not seriously hurt.
Gilbert police Lt. Joe Ruet said police have found more than a dozen shell casings on McQueen Road from a 9 mm handgun. Ruet said there had been a fight at a party in the neighborhood prior to the shooting, but police do not have evidence that the victims knew the shooter. Police said they are looking for a dark colored Chrysler sedan, which may have been at the scene.
Police have since increased their presence in the area of the incident. Anyone with information should call police at (480) 503-6500.
