Gilbert police arrested a Chandler homicide detective on suspicion of assaulting his wife on Tuesday.
Brett Lockwood, 35, spent Tuesday night in jail and was arraigned in Gilbert Municipal Court on a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence assault.
Lynn Arouh, town prosecutor, said on Friday that her staff will determine whether the case is “factually and legally sufficient” to proceed with the case.
Lt. Hugh White, Gilbert police spokesman, said details of the incident were being withheld while detectives investigate.
“The victim is his wife,” White said Friday.
Sgt. Joe Favazzo, Chandler police spokesman, said Lockwood was placed on paid leave until the criminal case is resolved.
