A 23-year-old Tempe man was killed Sunday night in what police believe is a gang-related incident. Amadore Rodriguez was shot in the driveway of a home in the 2400 block of East Laird Street, police said. He was later pronounced dead at Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn hospital.

Rodriguez was with family and friends around 10 p.m. when six to eight Hispanic men between the ages of 18 and 22 approached the house on foot. Words were exchanged, a car was kicked and a fight started. When Rodriguez came outside and approached the fight, he was shot once.

The assailants fled and could not be found despite an extensive search by ground and K-9 units and a Department of Public Safety helicopter.

Police said the assailants were yelling gang names, and the motive behind the shooting may have been a territorial dispute.
