A 68-year-old bicyclist died Wednesday after getting struck by a motorcyclist at a Mesa intersection.

According to Detective Steve Berry, Mesa police spokesman, the motorcyclist was headed west on Broadway Road at normal speed and he had the green light at 24th Street when the bicyclist, Melva Millensifer of Mesa, crossed the road from an unknown direction.

The crash occurred about 5:40 a.m.

Deputy Chief Mike Dunn, Mesa fire spokesman, said the motorcyclist was taken to a Mesa hospital with minor injuries.

The bicyclist was taken to a Scottsdale hospital in critical condition, but she succumbed to her injuries.
