A police officer was involved in a collision Tuesday as he headed to a burglary in progress.

Tempe police spokesman Brandon Banks said the officer was heading west on Apache Boulevard at McClintock Drive with his lights and siren on when he stopped for a red light, looked and then proceeded.

A 23-year-old woman driving a 2004 Saturn sport utility vehicle didn’t see the officer as he went through the red light. Banks said other drivers saw the officer and waited for him to cross the intersection.

No one was injured or cited in the collision.

Banks said the burglar, who was found by a resident inside a house at 1025 E. Orange St., got away.
