Scottsdale police arrested two people, including a man wanted on an outstanding federal warrant of armed robbery, after leading police on a brief chase Wednesday morning in south Scottsdale.
The chase ended when the woman driving the car crashed into a utility pole on the southwest corner of Scottsdale and Thomas roads about 10 a.m., injuring all three occupants, police said.
Before the crash, Angelita Howard, 34, of Phoenix, who was driving a white Pontiac, had sped away after officers tried to pull her over, according to police. She was arrested on suspicion of aggravated DUI, two counts of endangerment, felony flight and having an open container of alcohol.
Passenger Joseph Wellington, 21, of Phoenix was arrested on suspicion of having an open container of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was turned over to Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian police on an outstanding federal warrant of armed robbery.
The other passenger, Deborah Jojola, 26, of Mesa, was cited with having an open container of alcohol. All three were treated at Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn hospital; none of their injuries was considered life-threatening, police said.
