Police seized more than 1,500 pounds of marijuana Wednesday night that had been hauled from Texas to a northeast Phoenix residence.
The Phoenix police Drug Enforcement Bureau recovered several large blocks of the drug stacked inside a home at 3112 East Dahlia Drive, which sits within a quiet neighborhood, police said. The drugs had a street value of about $500,000.
Police received a call from the El Paso Police Department this morning about suspicious wooden crates that were be taken from the city to Phoenix.
The drug team followed the rental truck and watched the suspects unload the 5-by-5 foot crates.
The stench from the leafy drug filled the entire neighborhood, police spokesman detective Bob Ragsdale said.
Two men from Phoenix and one man from El Paso, Texas, were arrested in connection with the raid.
