Shane McCord was named Tuesday night as the assistant superintendent for administrative services for the Gilbert Unified School District.
McCord, a district employee for 13 years, replaces Dave Allison who is transitioning into the district's superintendent job. He will officially take over on July 1.
McCord, 37, started with the district as an elementary school teacher, moving his way up to assistant principal, principal, director of community education and executive director of human resources.
The Mesa High School graduate is an Arizona native. While in high school, he worked at his family's fishing store, McCord's Bait and Tackle Co., in Mesa.
McCord’s wife, Kristin, is a reading specialist at Gilbert Elementary School. Their two sons are in the third and sixth grades at Gilbert Elementary.
