Mom indicted in baby's near-death in bathtub

A Gilbert woman was indicted Tuesday on criminal charges in connection with her 9-month-old daughter nearly drowning after she was left in the bathtub unattended last year.

Amber Ferguson, 24, was indicted on child abuse charges by a Maricopa County Grand Jury.

Ferguson’s daughter, Katelynn Garcia, remains in a permanent vegetative state because of the near drowning last February.

Ferguson was also indicted on one count of possession of marijuana and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Gilbert police found marijuana in the home.
