Scottsdale police said they were searching for an unregistered sex offender who was doing construction work on a home in north Scottsdale on Wednesday, causing a lockdown at Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran School.
Acting on a tip, police went to a residence in the 9600 block of East Becker Road, north of Shea Boulevard, about 10:30 a.m. where the man was reportedly working.
But when the police department’s SWAT Team arrived, the man no longer was in the group of workers and could not be found, police said.
The man, Evaristo Saucedo, 37, was previously deported twice and has a history of violent crimes, according to police. He is wanted by authorities for failing to register as a sex offender for attempted sexual assault on a minor, according to police.
The lockdown at the school lasted from about 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Saucedo is 5-foot-8, weighs 170 pounds and has black hair with a ponytail. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a short-sleeved white T-shirt.
If anyone sees him, they are urged to call 911 or Scottsdale police at (480) 312-5000.
