The Democratic Party may be in the minority in voter registration in Arizona, but it has a lot more money than Republicans to get its followers to the polls.
Campaign finance reports filed Thursday show the Arizona Democratic Party raised $3.8 million this election cycle, according to campaign finance reports filed Thursday. The organization reported it has more than $1 million in cash on hand, after expenses.
By contrast, the Arizona Republican Party lists its contributions this election cycle at $878,000. With its expenses so far, that left just $263,842.
The difference is the size of donations.
U.S. Senate candidate Jim Pederson contributed $1 million to the Democratic Party. The report showed $580,000 from the Democratic Governors Association. And the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community kicked in $707,500.
By contrast, the largest donation to Republicans was Tucson auto dealer Jim Click’s $113,500. Former Dial Corp. chairman John Teets put in $77,000, with $65,000 from developer David Mehl.
The Salt River tribe also gave to the Republicans — but just $1,000.
